Oh I concur, however I checked with several other dealers, was not able to find one that did not have the same rip off the customer attitude. I also took the thing in to try and trade the car that was $26k (CAD) in on the new coupe, the car with 50k on it, less than a year old they offered me $12k for. Accords do not depreciate like that, or have 'dealer' reccomended nuisance charges.

i still prefer the styling of my 07 accord coupe, but if you like the looks of the new coupe go for it !

How is the 190hp 4 banger "sick"? It's still the same 2.4L in the 7G Accords, with the HP bumped up. (Probably just a slightly detuned 2.4 from the TSX) Torque remains about the same.

You should report that to Nissan north america, they are very determined to have satisfied customers!

Been there too, they were very prompt in having both dealers call me back to tell me that to trade in my year old car for the same thing I would be paying $14k after my supplier discount. I was very excited to purchase this car specifically, I see nearly every car get built and how the companies make decisions about what is an acceptable defect etc. The Altima was the car I was most impressed with, Honda is great too, but the Altima had a much stronger engine (before their supplier cheaped out on the piston rings causing that huge recall). I would have been happy to take a 6-8k hit, but 14k on a car that's only a year old ... not acceptable. I think I'm going to revisit this with Corporate, copying this post so they know what kind of attitude they have instilled in me. To reiterate, I loved the car because I have been involved directly in how its made, I'm pissed because I wanted the newer coupe and the trade in value was nil, and the dealers nickel and dime you for everything. My parents with their 98 camry were told that with 88k on the original brakes there was nothing to do, and to come back when they got over 100k and the dealer would have a look to see if anything was needed, my car on its first dealer check they wanted more than the cost of new components to 'extend the life'. If anyone's interested PM me and I'll be happy to say which dealers I'm talking about.

Hmm, I could have sworn I posted this last night, but: I put a deposit down for a 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 4dr with navigation in white diamond pearl. Expected build is late November to mid-December. Can't wait! 😀

Looks a lot better!

Though the V6 is a tad pricey for a Honda Accord. Likely because of all the features add an extra 2-3k to the car. And it's new..

After putting 5-6k down you're looking at 400 a month for 60 months. That's for the coupe.

The Honda accord sedan looks like a good choice. 25-26k for a 270 hp car....whoa.

Try to sell it private. You have time.

Yea thats what disappoints me. Its ONLY available in the EX trim if you want V6 in the Coupe, so it comes standard with leather and all the bells and whistles. The only option is with or w/o Navigation.

On the one I test drove, they wanted an extra $800 for a paint/leather 'seal' they put on it. This was, of course, in addition to the 5 year warranty on those parts, so i asked if its got the warranty, why do i need an $800 seal? He said, "Ohh, its so you dont have to ever wax it it!". There must be some really dumb people out there for fall for crap like that. 😕

Accord coupe is pointless, IMO, as are all of these FWD midsize sedan based coupes.
It's less practical than a sedan, which I do like, but still boring. Basically you give up two perfectly good doors, and pay more money without getting anything in return, except some poseur image. Look at me, I am driving a coupe, I am hip, yo. It's still a frikken Accord, you aint fooling anyone.

in terms of styling, accord coupe > altima coupe. I was driving behind a white altima coupe yestreday...man the rear end is fugly

Troll.

I prefer the look of the coupes. I couldn't give a shit what you think it "says" to drive one. Go spread your fluids elsewhere, douchebag.

I'm thinking of picking one of these up. I had been looking at the IS300 for a while but its just too expensive to repair/insure/fuel for what you get.

Now i'm looking at the newest accord coupe. It looks pretty hot IMO. Anyone got one yet or got good feedback on them?

I'm currently driving a 96 Integra 5sp that i totally love. But with 155k miles of punishment (last year of HS and all through college) under her belt, i'd like to get new wheels. 🙂

Thanks for the input. Oh, and i'm not looking for links to the reviews, i've seen them. I'm wanting input from owners or others that are interested in the car or cars similar to it.

I work at a Honda Dealership and every day that damn car stares me in the face. I want it so bad and I have driven it. The car is amazing because its built by Honda, but has the looks of an exotic! Also the car is really big inside. I love big coupes! I own a 93 Coupe Deville lol! So until this car came out all the coupes besides a CL 550 were not comfortable.

The altima comparably equipped is about the same price so you gotta look at all the stupid packages other companies besides honda does. Also interior build quality is an issue. One example of many, look at where the headliner meets the windshield and rear window of the Altima you will see ... ehh... ugh.

Anyway, anyone can make a car for cheaper and on the new consumer reports Nissan has a few vehicles on least reliable and EVERY HONDA VEHICLE IS MOST RELIABLE... hmm.....

No the EX comes as cloth the EX-L is leather which is about 2k more. 😀

That seal is simonizing protection for the exterior and scotch guard for the interior which is good, but its supposed to be an option don't listen to a turd like that guy.

Sorry for spamming the forum, but I love these new ones. And Amen on the guy who told off the Coupe hater. One of the main reasons you buy a car is for the Looks. So if you like the Coupe look why not buy it!

P.S. It doesn't look like a Hyundai and let the Sedan grow on you a little in the future you'll love it!

The Altima has the Jatco CVT transmission. It was far from bulletproof in the Murano. I'd be very hesitant to buy the Altima if I was planning to keep it for more than 100k miles.

The Murano was pushing the limits of that CVT, right at the max rated torque. The problems were the belt, and it would detonate immediately if there was a manufacturing fault. It should be just fine in a 4 cyl, and the bugs should have been worked out by now. Having said that, I love my 5 speed altima, but would not reccomend it. Every time I took it to the dealer they wanted money, first check at 20000 km they told me the rotors needed turning for $400, I informed them for $400 I could replace the rotors with crossdrilled slotted rotors that would last forever, at 40000 km they wanted $200 for a fuel purge. In all for the first year on a brand new car the thieves wanted over $1000 in trumped up charges. Go with the Honda.

Thanks. Where did you learn about this information?

It's interesting that Dodge puts a similar Jatco CVT in their Caliber, but are willing to put a lifetime warranty on the unit as well.

Do you think the CVT in the 07+ Altima is able to handle the new V6?

Sorry wasnt watching this thread, I took a plane back from Nashville after working in the Nissan plant and rode beside the guy from borg-warner that was there covering their asses for blow belts. Small defects in manufacture would cause the belt to detonate, but if it ran for the first 100 miles it should be fine.

Oh and I do like my Altima, I'm just pissed that I couldnt get in a new coupe for a reasonable price. Posts like this tread tend to get me into /rant mode, but knowing what I know now I would look alot harder at the Accord

Just wanted to add, if anyone does purchase an Accord, look into purchasing the Honda care FACTORY extended warranty policy. You can purchase one from an online Honda dealership for about $900 (substantially less than what the dealership wants to charge you) and provides coverage for up to eight years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Link, please? (I'm at work and my lunch break is almost over so I don't have time to find it...) thanks.

www.hondawarrantyinfo.com

4-cyl is $940.00, V6 is 995.00.

HondaCare is NOT factory backed and is entirely separate from the factory warranty. Honda Care will go out of their way to reject claims and refuse repairs. Unfortunately, I'm speaking from experience. Honda Care is just like any other "extended" warranty/service plan, etc. It exists solely to increase profits for Honda.

I've had dealings with several CSRs from American Honda and the Regional Manager for American Honda -- Honda Care is a part of American Honda but not American Honda. In my experience so far, if Honda Care makes a decision, it's very, very difficult to have American Honda reverse it.

Considering my issue is still unresolved (going back to March 07), I would not recommend a Honda product again UNLESS you consider that once that 3 year/36K miles is done, the warranty is done...counting on Honda Care is a mistake.
