2008 accord info out

Even the Saturn Aura is faster with less horsepower.

I think the new Accord has a lovely exterior and interior, especially compared to the Camry. I have to test drive it first but I think it is better than the Camry. The interior seems very Acura-like and European-like.

This video review of the 2008 Honda Accord has me excited but I think the car might be too big for me now. I already thought the Accord was pretty big but they made it even bigger. Still, the new Accord is very nice.

People here are talking about straight line speed, but cars like the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 are not known for their straight line speed but other driving dynamics. When compared to the Camry, the Accord's driving dynamics seem better.

Anything looks better than the new Camry. It used to be a boring yet unoffensive design. Icky.
Looks wise, Honda could have done better. The civic is polarizing, but it's a home run in my book.
But slower than the new Camry, ugh that is hard to get over.

i can't really tell which is better at this point. they both have their pros and cons...i'm gonna have to see them side-by-side in person to make a better judgment.

the accord's front looks like it belongs on an SUV though.

Accord has come a long way in terms of size. I remember my aunt's 93 accord....it was small, yet very roomy. Flash forward to her 04 or 05 Accord....it's so big. I thinik cars today are starting to break boudries in terms of size. What used to be a mid sized car has grown to large boat, but it is till considered a midsized car (granted, the 93 accord was a compact). The camry, especially, looks like a boat when you get into the driver's seat. Everytime i see a camry, my first though is "I would not want to parallel park in that".

I guess I'm not really seeing the point in offering two I4's that are only 13HP apart from each other. 😕

Hopefully this willl drop the prices for the current gen ones. The current ones are are much better looking IMO.

The Mazda 3 only has 13hp and 15lb/ft of torque differential between the 3i and 3s models(2.0L and 2.3L) and it seems to work pretty well for them.

Also, it probably is good for marketing. 177hp I4 sounds pretty good, but 190hp I4 sounds much more powerful, at least in my mind. When I read 190hp I4 I immediately though pretty impressive.

While I'm not blown away by the exterior looks, I do think they are a huge step over the previous Accord which I've hated since day one...the midlife makeover really did nothing for me. On the inside, I think the car looks quite nice (although the steering wheel sticks out like a soar thumb when the tan/wood is used.

I for one like the extra room. I'm tall and lanky (6'5") and have never liked fitting into smaller sedans. I love sitting in the back seat of my Dad's Avalon and can't see how anyone can complain about a car that size. Unless you live in a city or Europe, driving a car this size is simple. No, it is not going to be comparable to driving a Miata...but most people taking trips in their family hauler are not looking for that...a nice ride with decent handling is all they are looking for...and this is exactly what the Accord looks to be doing.

I also like the engine selection. They all seem to be quite good EPA wise and are PZEV which is always a huge plus in my mind. The 190HP I4 even uses regular gas...that's quite impressive. Now if they could just come out with a direct injection turbo charged version with ~220HP that gets equal or better gas mileage than the 4...that would be awesome. I'm looking forward to how the diesel will perform.

I'm not sold on it...but I'd certainly put this on on the test drive list when the time comes to replace my wife's car. I'm looking forward to what Mazda has in store for the replace Mazda 6.

I think the coupe looks fantastic - I like the idea of a loaded V6 6-speed manual Coupe w/ Navigation

The times are estimated for the Accord. I still think the Camry will have a faster time because of the 6spd and better torque curve...

Wow, Honda hired Chris Bangle and Toyota hired Homer Simpson .. I'm sure both are quite wonderful cars, but those looks are just somewhat jarring. I really liked the 2001 Accords, particularly the coupe.

what a fugly piece of fugly. did they take a nissan and mate it with an element? the rear is boring, the front should be on a truck, and the side looks like a bangle. the interior has some weird warp to it and looks stodgy and uninviting.

Maybe they're experimenting whether people will actually buy a piece of shit if it came with the right badge.

It's interesting to me how, between the A-pillar and the back of the greenhouse, the Accord sedan looks SO similar to a BMW E90. Too bad it's even uglier than the Bimmer on both ends.
