I still dont understand why TVs move at those prices when you can get a friggin projector.

I only want a TV at sub $1000.

I'd rather not have to replace a bulb at a couple hundred bucks a pop every few years. I went with a 65" CRT projection for a little over $1k.

The logistical hassles of a projector are hard to ignore. One day I'll definitely have a dedicated media room with a projector, but for the time being I want something to flip on and watch the news. My 50" set is still great, and much easier to turn on and have a good experience with than a projector.

What do 1080P projectors run these days? I honestly don't know since I don't follow them, but I somewhat doubt you can get a feature set equivalent to my TV at the price I paid, much less below it.

No one pays retail for TVs anymore. So those prices are already inflated and they're not even out yet.

Well, only the uninformed pay retail for TV's.

I paid about $400 under their advertised price in that week's ad when I bought mine.

I still see it advertised at hundreds more than I paid, I'll probably cry when I see it finally cheaper. 🙁

Good luck finding a 65" DLP at a little over $1000.

Hitachi rear projection CRT FTW? I got the 51" model for a little over $700, it has a beautiful, sharp HD picture.
