babies

2007 4,315,000 babies born beating out last record in 1957 by 15,000.

Last record was set from economic prosperity I guess this one is from immigration and more people living here. Wonder if the next few years will show an increase.

this is good news for the economy in 20-30 years when all those babies start entering the productive economic sphere

Don't count on it;

High school drop-out rate in major US cities at nearly 50 percent

A report released Tuesday by an educational advocacy group founded by retired general and former Bush administration Secretary of State Colin Powell finds that almost half of all public high school students in the US? fifty largest cities fail to graduate.

http://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/cr_baeo.htm

This study examines high school graduates rates in the US. It reports that the national graduation rate for the class of 1998 was 71%. For white students the rate was 78%, while it was 56% for African-American students and 54% for Latino students.

The Higher Drop-Out Rate of Foreign-Born Teens

Foreign-born youths are significant contributors to the nation's teen school dropout population. Only 8 percent of the nation's teens are foreign born, but nearly 25 percent of teen school dropouts were born outside the United States

Unfortunately at this rate it is more than likely your Social Security we be used to pay for their welfare.

And jamming freeways with even longer commute for everyone, overcrowding public schools, social service straining, as other nations overtake USA in economy.

I hope to god we will have fixed our transportation, education, and social services problems by the time these kids are grown up. Otherwise there we be an enormous burden on these children...one that I hope to god they'll be able to live up to if we fail.

An indictment of the profit system from Socio's first link.

None of the major presidential candidates and neither of the two big business parties can address the virtual collapse of public education revealed in the report issued on Tuesday. It starkly exposes the socially destructive and irrational workings of the capitalist system, which is defended by the Democrats and Republicans, and which has as its fundamental social principle not the common good, but the enrichment of a wealthy elite at the expense of the vast majority of the people.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

No, this is not life everywhere else, if you travel and see how other countries are like.

Many other countries have better public transportation with short commute time, better health care, money to repair bridges and levees and roads, and schools that is not overcrowded and more educated students.

You choose the quality of life you live. And we as a society choose how we live in our society. Americans just got the environment they deserve, and no more.

Cool, you guys are producing someone to fund your Social Security:laugh:

More likely we're expanding the welfare base. People are bringing more and more people into the world they cannot take care of. Poverty breeding poverty, literally.

Not necessarily, the baby boomers will be largely dead by then and there are about the same number of them as there are babies being born.

The Mexican kids will drop out of public schools keeping them relatively uncrowded, but theyll probably strain the social services. At least I wont be working anymore so my taxes wont be wasted on that crap.

No worry's the church will take care of em!

That's the only reason this shit is happening. Can't kill em.... Somehow we need to spend billions trying to keep premature ones alive.... Stupid...Stupid...stupid....

Aggregate numbers don't mean shit. Last time we had this many babies born there were a little over half the amount of people in the US.

But sure, go ahead and blame it on the Mexicans because they breed like rabbits and smell like beans.

Highly doubt that other countries will overtake the US in the next 30 years. If anything, Europe especially, faces a crisis of demographics as they aren't breeding enough to replenish their numbers. America is pretty much the only Western nation that's even coming close to death replacement.

China's one-baby and the culturual preference towards boys is resulting in similar demographic issues.

If you guys don't want your babies, maybe you could give em to the Europeans, kill two birds one stone

Don't worry, the government will just devalue the currency and use bogus cooked inflation statistics to steal your retirement savings and shaft you on social security. 😛
