That Willy Mays tribute was something.
Jose Reyes whipping out a pen to get the ball autographed.
Good stuff.

I hate the fact that this game "matters". I just want to see a lot of home runs and web gems. Polanco definitely sticks out like a sore thumb. hehe

How does it "matter"? I like that it's more of a competitive game than the farce that was the 2002 all-star game in Milwaukee.

Look at the last 10 years, only 2 games were positively affected by home field advantage, Angels over the Giants, and Marlins over the Indians. I toss out the Diamondbacks / Yankees series because Schilling & Johnson were dominant no matter what park - and if the middle 3 games were in AZ instead of NY, Kim more than likely would not have blown that game. So actually, I think home field advantage hurt the Diamondbacks that year.

So just enjoy a competitive game. You've got the home-run derby to watch the sluggers bop the long ball. The last thing we want is baseball to turn into basketball, hockey, or football's all-star games, where they are all a complete joke.

screw larussa...he sucks...ruining the home field advantage for the Mets by not batting Pujols...come one 1 at bat isnt gonna hurt him....ugh...thats what happens when you leave it up to a Philadelphia player

I couldn't believe Pujols didn't get the bat over Rowand bases juiced. I called that fly out before he even stepped in.

i dont mind it all that much actually. the padres are a better road team than home team, but i do like chris young's home era so perhaps in game 1 peavy goes, and in game 2 we throw mad dog maddux and save young for the first game back in san diego.

I couldn't watch the game since I was at work but I heard the whole thing on the radio. I'm not happy Wagner gave up a 2 run homer to Victor Martinez with that meatball in the middle of the plate but the rest of the Mets reps did their thing.

Ichiro is just tremendous and it looks like he'll be in Seattle for the remainder of his possibly hall of fame caliber career (he's better than ever these days) with that new 5 year extension everyone is talking about.

Nice job of LaRussa not putting in Pujols with the game on the line. Really nice job you damn moron. What was he thinking??!!!

All-star games are usually pretty boring; this one was no different. Didn't really bother to watch it, but saw Ichiro's 'homerun', which was pretty cool. Still amazed at how fast/versatile he is.

Actually, I found this one pretty exciting. Especially the bottom of the 9th.

No reason not to bat Pujols in that situation. What was Larussa thinking? What a way to kill an exciting 9th inning.
