2007 Ford Edge SEL - Personal Experience?

The wife and I are looking at purchasing a used 2007 Ford Edge SEL. I wanted to know if anyone had any personal experience with a Ford Edge, and if so... how was it? Looking for both positive and negatives of the vehicle.

Thanks.

My only experience with them is as a rental. It had plenty of power, but the fuel mileage was terrible. But as far as crossovers go, I liked the Ford over the Nissan Murano I had as a rental a few months ago.

This is OT, but I have to mention that I was very pleased with a rental Fusion SEL last month. The interior quality, especially the leather trim, was well done.

Focus, Fusion, Edge, and even moreso their Lincoln counterparts are all made of f'in win. I loved all of them when I gave them all extended test drives. (weekends putting about 200 miles on each)

Dont forget to look at the Lincoln MKX if you want to raise the budget a little.

I liked it as a rental car. I've really liked all of the newer Fords that I've rented actually. Only downside is that the average mileage will probably be in the low 20's at best.

I drove the 4banger version of it for some 1000 miles, not too bad as far as ford goes. Little too much hard plastic for my taste, but again that was the base car.

I really liked my Edge rental I had about 2 months ago. Plenty of power (just the base model), ok gas mileage, plenty of space, very spacious. Drove extremely well...I was impressed.

Had an edge rental about a year ago and absolutely loved it. Good interior, great ride, great handling, quiet on the inside, tho subpar rear visbility. Got about 22mpg on average, and that was with burning it up the first few days. The engine is amazing, fast, efficient and the transmission is smooth as butter. Highly recommended. Before you buy, I'd rent one for a weekend, put 200-300 miles on it and see how you like it. If you can wait, i'd go with the 2009 or 2010 because they are suppose to update it with different styling, fuel economy tweaks, and better sync capabilities
