DETROIT - General Motors will introduce the all-new 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, the latest rollout of its next-generation full-size truck family and the industry's most flexible utility vehicle, at the Chicago Auto Show.

GM also will make two major announcements: One will build on the "Live Green Go Yellow" campaign GM launched Jan. 25 in Washington, D.C.; the second involves a technology enhancement at OnStar. OnStar will celebrate its 10th anniversary at the show.

"GM continues to demonstrate bold and innovative leadership in products and technology," said Brent Dewar, GM vice president, marketing and advertising. "On these fronts and more, GM is truly on a roll."

The Chevy Avalanche was the first to combine the passenger-comfort attributes of an SUV with the cargo capability of a truck. The 2007 model is based on GM's brand-new, full-size SUV platform, which features more power with improved, segment-leading fuel economy and flex-fuel capability on some models; a sharper, more precise driving feel; increased interior refinement and improved quietness; and world-class safety. It will go on sale in the second quarter of 2006.

"Avalanche created the segment and it continues to dominate it. In 2007, the original gets even better," said Dewar.

GM's Chicago Auto Show exhibit also will feature many of the products introduced last month at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show and North American International Auto Show in Detroit

I think we can all agree it's no longer hideous. Now it'll compete more with the EXT.

ALL avalanches have had the following option since 2003

WBH - Without Body Hardware, no plastic paneling.

GM also will make two major announcements: One will build on the "Live Green Go Yellow" campaign GM launched Jan. 25 in Washington,

I guess translated that means: "Piss on the environment, we will continue to base our sales on SUVs."

no, its the Flex Fuel campaign, all GM vehicles that can accept Alternative Fuels (E85) will receive yellow fuel caps, and owners of them already will receive them in the mail

Because going from ugly to uglier is not a great way to increase market share.

QFT

They went from ugly to Honda Avalanche...or Ridgeline or whatever Honda calls that abomination they are selling.

Yeah, instead of 15 mpg it will get 15.2 mpg...under ideal driving conditions of course.

Eh, the "new" Avalanche looks more like the Ridgeline . . . at least from the front.

2006 Avalanche

2006 Ridgeline

Isn't it kind of retarded to brag about flex fuel vehicles when there's scarcely any place to actually buy the crap?

actually California (governator) is wanting to create legislation to provide benefits to those who do provide E85 at their stations, and what not.

Another SUV. This will sure help GM and their financial problem.

Does anyone work at GM have COMMON SENSE?

While Honda is bringing in Fit into the U.S. GM unveil a SUV.

Nice try GM.

O yes, blame the foreigners for your stupidity.

If GM built a car that went 100 mpg, people still wouldn't buy it because it would probably break down before the tank emptied.

People buy GM for their trucks, SUVs, and other white trash automobiles. They're not interested driving a go cart.

I'm not bashing those people, I'm just saying they want these big vehicles. That's the demographic that GM and other domestic car companies cater to.

I know that SUV is the most profitable segment for automakers. But they have to not only match the Japanese's offerings but also rising oil prices.

Seriously, if you have a SUV, you would probably keep it. But if you planning to buy a new car, would you buy a SUV like this one? Even if you do, you have to look at the competitors out there.

Arrogant isn't going to help. Give as much rebate as you want, GM's financial isn't going to be save by a brand new SUV with nicer interior.

I predict GM will be reorganizing if not filing for chapter 11 reorganization. Unless the UAW workers give up their pension and willing to work for less pay.

I'm sorry to say, GM is pretty much done in America. (their international division is doing quite well)

You know what? you are a pompous arrogant bastard. you are the reason that people dont believe in GM reliability. GM reliability today is AS good as ANY foreign automaker, Toyota/Honda specifically. GM does NOT build white trash mobiles as you would call it. there is a stigmatism to the F-bodies that ppl have, but no other GM car has it. Cadillac is becoming a top performing Luxury vehicle.

Buick is becoming a top performing mid-lux manufacturer.
Pontiac is slowly becoming a mid class performance car division
Chevy is still the low end on the totem pole for GM, they sell this and that, but they do it at lower costs.

you yet again show that you are one of the MOST pompous, arrogant, and one of the biggest biggots on this board.

So Cadillacs, Hummers, GM trucks, and brands like Buick which cater to older people are of no use in America? Ok LMAO, that's pretty ignorant of you to say that.

GM very well might file for reorganization, but they will always continue to sell their cars in America and they will always sell very well here.

But the trend is shifting back to passenger cars. I did a research on automakers not long ago. I've also read S&P report on these automakers.

The segment that GM should focus on is the entry-level luxury car. Such as BMW 3 series, Infiniti G35 and Lexus IS/ES, Acura TL. That is a growing segment. The Cadillac CTS is a good car, but it seem weak in comparison to the compeitors.

Just my .02.
