DETROIT ? Cadillac unveiled the 2007 Escalade, the next generation of the iconic luxury SUV. The all-new Escalade establishes a new level of refinement and style, delivered with an instantly recognizable form that introduces the next step in Cadillac's ongoing renaissance.

Based on General Motors' all-new full-size SUV platform, the '07 Escalade features new powertrain, chassis, safety and interior systems. These integrated systems deliver the most powerful and most efficient luxury SUV in the segment, led by a new 6.2L all-aluminum V-8 engine with variable valve timing technology delivering 403 horsepower (300 kw)* and 417 lb.-ft. of torque (565 Nm).*

"The 2007 Escalade represents the next phase of Cadillac's product renaissance ? a renaissance that was launched by the previous-generation Escalade," said Jim Taylor, Cadillac general manager. "Since its inception, Escalade has been an icon ? the vehicle discerning customers aspire to own. The '07 model raises the bar with exceptional exterior style, interior refinement, increased performance and enhanced ride and handling smoothness."

Cadillac Escalade will be available in the first quarter of 2006, with extended-wheelbase Escalade ESV and Escalade EXT models to be introduced later in the year. The Escalade family is one of the most aspirational nameplates in the industry and attracts the youngest customers in Cadillac's portfolio of automobiles.

Cadillac Escalade will also be sold outside North America , thus strengthening Cadillac's global portfolio.

Wow this sucker must've been on the drawing board over a year ago.

Gas goes to $3/gal & GM puts together an Escalade w/ a 6.2L!!!

Holy crap!!!

How about a whipped up version of the 4.8 that *might* get 15mpg!!!

Fffffaaaaaaavvvvvvvvvddddgggge!!!!

When will people get it? Anyone that can afford a $60k car is not going to give a sht about gas mileage.

A $6k car yes. An Escalade? No.

You obviously are either cheap or have a stretched budget, since this is the second thread where you mentioned gas mileage as being such a huge concern. Personally, I don't really care about it. Hell, 19MPG would be a welcome change for me :p

BS.
In my experience most of the people with $60k and $400k houses are financed to the gills and living damn near paycheck to paycheck. And it happens quite often. But rather then admit they are living at the ragged edge of their means, they'll impulse buy something to impress the neigbors then bitch when something unexpected happens and they cant afford it.

Such cases are very true, however the majority of people buying an Escalade are not on the verge of financial ruin.

I once read the average Escalade buyer makes about $160,000 a year, which is reasonable for a car which sells for about $50k.

Please note however on the Escalade and most every other US made car. These vehicles rarely sell for near their sticker price. This past summer they were selling new 2005 Escalades for $12,000 off sticker. Years prior, it was about $8-9000 off.
