I saw a pic around E60 forums where it had bigger, bulkier 5-series headlights. Now THAT would be impressive.

This gives it the sport SUV kind of look... I think. Takes away the 'mean' and 'tough' factor though.

like said over on TCL, if you get into a small fender bender, but on the sides, your replacing a HUGE piece of sheetmetal... that sucks.

looks like the interior is where most of the changes are. I think I like it a bit better than the old one mainly because of the look on the front. Other than that, it's pretty much the same as the old one.

I'm happy no major redesign like the 3, 5 and 7 series.

the longer front end might be an issue at least from pictures. I"ll have to see it in person

hmm how does the shifter work here.

and when BMW designers actually fiddle with them, it's all downhill.

ugh its ugly. and the third row is dumb.

i had a 2001 X5 and it was the best car ever. now i'll just have to wait till this is released and get a used old design for that much cheaper.

this is something has bother me for a while. I don't get why BMW doesn't changed this.

Then, to select a drive gear manually, all the driver has to do is press the selector lever to the left and is now able to shift gears sequentially by hand. To shift up, pull the selector lever back and to shift down, push the selector lever forwards.

people tend to figure pushing forward as pushing up -> up shift. Like going into a higher gear.
