they got 23 MPG in their test. the last normal altima they tested? 24 MPG. so the hybrid version actually got worse mileage. it also shows no performance advantage due to lugging around nearly 400 more pounds of pork.
edit: i should add that i get about 28 real-world MPG in my 240 HP Accord V6.

Was it long term or short term test on the track?

An technology obviously Nissan doesn't understand.
If you want to buy a hybrid, stick with toyota.

Yes it's the same system as the one in the Camry

LOL, it uses Synergy Drive, licensed by Toyota. However, nobody else really integrates the technology as smoothly as Toyota; as a result, the total package doesn't perform as well.
As for the C&D tests, no hybrid is really made to be abused and it's no secret C&D abuses their cars (meaning they drive them like they're on a track even if they're not). Real world it'll probably get ~30 MPG which isn't fantastic. I like the Altima and have considered this car but will probably look elsewhere when I replace my Maxima.

Way to read the thread. They sent it to Patrick Bedard for two months for the sole purpose of getting every ounce of gas they could from it (his hobby now), meaning NO hard or even medium accelerating...they drove it like an old man (which he is now anyway).

I did read the thread. I also read the article that mentioned the 23 mpg. It states, "The hybrid?s average, which included test-track thrashing, was a dismal 23 mpg."
