Hey guys so I've driven the Subie around and like it and am close to closing on it but found a different dealer with a 4WD Xterra and was wondering if it'd be worth pursuing that one. I like Nissans and Infinitis a lot but I have to really sit in it to see because I am 6'9" and vehicles that you would assume are roomy like the Highlander end up being too cramped for me.

Anyhow, damn I'm torn here. Gonna be sticking with this purchase for a while so trying to decide...

Honestly there's not as much room in an Xterra as you might expect. Body on frame, and you effectively sit on the floorboards. My friend is 6'4 and fits ok, but the seat is all the way back and kinda sits like __| .

The Tribeca will drive better and probably be a bit better on gas. If you need to go offroad though the Xterra will be better in many situations. Normal road stuff and winter conditions the Subaru will be pretty good. However, I probably wouldn't get the 2006 model. And instead would only get a Tribeca on the model refresh, which came sometime around 2007-2008, and it looks like: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/tribeca/tribeca08diamondgrayside1.JPG

Only get the Xterra if you truly have the desire to do do some off road trail riding. It's going to have a harsher ride, less amenities and get worse gas mileage than the tribeca.

That being said I'd personally still get the xterra over the tribeca, but I'm a weekend trail runner. I have two coworkers with a tribeca and frankly don't see anything in that car. Not that there is anything wrong with it but for my needs it just doesn't make sense.

Then again one of my co workers that has the tribeca is also 6'9" and says it's comfortable for him.

Yeah, we're actually looking at the Tribeca and probably will buy on Saturday after we look at it in person. But I absolutely pass any of the 2006/2007 models as they are hideous, IMO. We have three options, and I just hope one is aces.

i would too(but I have an X) but gas mileage is the same, i think the x looks way better, gas mileage is very similar

the tribecas arent really much more spacious I dont think(for 06)
obv the x doesnt have an available 3rd row

there was a radiator recall on auto Xterras you want to make sure was done

Wow! I don't come across many fellow tall folk but I know we're out there! Thanks for the tips guys. The dealership straightup let me borrow the Tribeca throughout the day and I'm really diggin it then again I enjoyed riding around in an '11 Impala though its roof is too short to see traffic lights as my head is up on the ceiling LOL.

Bought the 'beca, couldn't be happier damn. Yeah it's the B9 style which looks fantastic though I agree the grill is kinda funky. Stands out kinda like me though, people look at it like WTF is that but I think in a good way unlike the Aztec or before the xB was generally accepted.

Congrats.

Never been in a beca, only in the X. I've driven it as well but i didn't like it too much. The Beca should be a solid car. Post back after you really got to drive and it let us know.
