Just bought me a beautiful sts with 50,000 miles. My question is on this car, if it has the rear spoiler and the mess grill. Is this like let's say a gm ss model. I've seen a lot of others the same year that did not have these items. One thing for sure, This is a bad boy.. Love the power. The insurance company loves me tho. Unbelievable 200.00 a month full coverage with a perfect driving record for a 50 year old.
OK I guess that might be 2 questions lol.

not quite sure GM has ever put out a car I would be willing to pay 200/month insurance on....

I don't think that's because of the car - my 04 CTS-V was...I don't remember exactly, but maybe $350-400/6mo when I was in my late 20s.

Different cars so it's hard to say. While $200/months is a lot for any car, I'm sure an STS-V would be more based on cost to repair.

You also have low coverages ;)

Agreed, here in fort wayne just about every soccer mom drives an SUV worth 3/4 of that per accident cost.

When a 1986 lincoln totaled my 2012 civic base model into a light pole, total accident damages for the FIOS boxes, light pole inspection, curb repair, my car totaled, his car totaled, and my 4K in medical was over 57,000$.

I actually have 15k/30k/15k coverage right now because I'm in Canada and I'm not driving anything all summer. ;)

The argument was that an STS-V would cost significantly more to insure than a CTS-V. If I quintupled my coverage to compare what I had on my CTS-V, the comparison would be irrelevant.

But, to satisfy the naysayers:
Code:
Bodily Injury & Property Damage Liability:
$250,000 each person/$500,000 each accident/$100,000 each accident $182.00
Uninsured Motorist:
$250,000 each person/$500,000 each accident $31.00
Underinsured Motorist:
$250,000 each person/$500,000 each accident $16.00
Medical Payments:
$25,000 each person $44.00
Comprehensive:
$1,000 deductible $77.00
Collision:
$1,000 deductible $127.00
Rental Reimbursement:
No Coverage $0.00
Roadside Assistance:
No Coverage $0.00
Custom Parts and/or Equipment value:
$0.00 $0.00
Loan/Lease Payoff:
No Coverage $0.00
Total rate for this vehicle: $477.00

Remove my snapshot discount and we are still at less than half of the OP's rate.

You were sayin'? ;)

If you still think that's not enough coverage, you might want to be shopping for million dollar umbrella policies, because this is the best Progressive has, short of reducing deductibles to amounts that don't really make financial sense:
Code:
2006 CADILLAC STS-V

 	 	After the Requested Change
Bodily Injury & Property Damage Liability:
$500,000 combined single limit $198.00
Uninsured Motorist:
$500,000 combined single limit $37.00
Underinsured Motorist:
$500,000 combined single limit $20.00
Medical Payments:
$25,000 each person $44.00
Comprehensive:
$1,000 deductible $77.00
Collision:
$1,000 deductible $127.00
Rental Reimbursement:
No Coverage $0.00
Roadside Assistance:
No Coverage $0.00
Custom Parts and/or Equipment value:
$0.00 $0.00
Loan/Lease Payoff:
No Coverage $0.00
Total rate for this vehicle: $503.00

....for a whopping $1/week additional cost.

Just for teh lulz, I went for broke and got $100 deductibles and rental car coverage.

I'm not 100% sure if this is pre or post Snapshot, but worst case we're at $948/6mo. Still not close to $200/mo.

I pay right about $100 a month for the Viper with Progressive's $500k CSL This is in North Jersey, which runs higher than most.

I'm 33 with a reasonably clean record but not pristine. I've been with Progressive 10 years now, every time I think about changing I discover (again) that nobody else can beat them by enough to be worth switching.

At $200/mo for an sts at 50 there has to be more to this story. Credit history? Either that or the sts is just considered a stupid high risk.

I'm at $113/month on the Corvette and $90/month on the Acadia with $500k/500 deductible. We have vehicle replacement currently on both cars which is a little more. This is after discounts, 3 cars, house, married, clean record, new car discount and good credit. Really depends on the area and cost to repair the vehicle.
