It is a Pontiac, enough said. Nothing more than a polished turd. Pontiac has not made a decent car since the early 70s.

G6, GTO(bah)

both nice cars.

you obviously would buy a MB since their cars used to be reliable, and obviously still are :D

I would not have a Mercedes Benz for any reason, and the GTO is junk with a big engine. Ugly, GM had a chance for a homerun and simply hit a foul ball. GM makes nothing but junk anymore. They used to make some good cars but that was over 30 years ago. They go well with the Budweiser beer you like so much though....about on the same level.

What? Tuners are putting a potent GM engine from a GM sports car into another GM sports car??

Wow, you could just knock me over with a feather after finding that out! Where's the justice? Lock the doors, hide your wife and children! It's all over folks!!

GAME OVER MAN, GAME OVER!!

The NC Miata gets 23/30
The Solstice gets 20/28

What's your point? It's par for the course.

Shouldn't it be GM's job to put a potent engine in the Solstice in the first place?

GM or not, Miatas have been stuffed with LS's for a long, long time. GM copied the Miata, tuners are copying the Flying Miatas of the 90's.

You make absolutely NO sense.

By that logic, why didn't Mazda put a potent enough engine in the Miata in the first place. And even better still, why couldn't tuners find a portent Mazda engine to put in the Miata instead of having to go grab a GM engine to toss in there. Oh that's right, Mazda doesn't have anything potent enough or reliable enough to toss in a Miata.

And as for copying someone. The Miata isn't an original idea. The original was just a Japanese copy of the British roadsters that came before it...only with newer styling and better reliability.

And the tuners aren't copying the Miata by putting an LS2/6 engine in the Solstice, they're justing do what they do...MAKE A CAR GO FASTER AT ALL COSTS!

You're telling me that the Miata is a copy of another car? That they brought in a British roadster and then tried to copy it as well as they could?

The Solstice is a copy of the Miata. At every step, GM used the Miata as a reference. And they still came up short. They made it too fat. They're too retarded to understand the concept of a roadster and weight.

Now, stay with me here. Making a copy of the original masterpiece, and then copying the alterations made to the original makes it a ... copy.

I don't understand why you're defending it. It's definitely better than nothing, but I don't even know if it's as good as the old Miata.

I'm telling you that the Miata is not an original idea. The Miata didn't just come out of thin air. The Japanese studied the old British roadsters and what made them tick. They looked at how they achieved the balance of handling/performance. They looked at that formula and improved up on it with a reliable, cheap, easy to maintain vehicle in the form of the NA Miata.

So if you're going to say that the Solstice is a copy of the Miata, you have to go back to the original source.

By that logic, every four wheeled vehicle is a copy of the first car ever made.

The Miata was designed as a concept. The engineers understood what it takes to make a great roadster, and then they built one. GM tried to emulate the Miata instead of trying to create the roadster. Brought it in, analyzed it, drove them back to back, and tried to make the Solstice feel like the Miata. That's the difference. How they made it 400 lbs heavier is beyond me.

I own a 2005 GTO, and I disagree with your assessment of it. It is most definitely not junk!

You do know that the engineers didn't just say, "Wow, we can build a roadster without looking at great roadsters from the past." They used the British cars as a pattern.

In fact, the NA and NB Miatas were available in, that's right, BRITISH RACING GREEN. Even the design of the NA Miata harkens back to the Lotus Elan
