Hmm I predict a MSRP of 21-22k for this car. With all the honda fanboys it'll be selling at msrp+ for at least the first year.

Si's has always been selling for above MSRP.

Can someone photoshop the hood to match the car, and make headlights clear?
I'm pretty crappy but here: Link

Without colored foglights and brake pads and without the wing

Cool. How about with double the wheelgap like a production model 😉

...and get rid of the fender flares... the sideskirts and the front lip.

Looks sweet, but will it be as slow as the rsx type-s? The rsx type-s does the 1/4mile in only 15 secs and it has 210hp, the previous type-r was faster with less hp, go figure.
Either Honda has BSed this information for the new Civic, or they're making a major change to other cars. Think about it, why would they want their Civic to compete with Acura's RSX-S?

I think Honda is going to change the RSX around a bit, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the S2000 found a new engine as well

Hmmm i dunno... I doubt that F20 will go anywhere else other than in an S2000.

The Civic Si Concept celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Civic Si legacy in the U.S. and builds on its performance heritage with a 200-horsepower, 16-valve, DOHC i-VTEC engine with an 8,000 rpm red line, mated to a close ratio 6-speed manual transmission. Helping to put all that power to the ground is a helical-type limited slip differential for improved launch traction and cornering performance.
So where exactly does it say how powerful the production model will be?

"The press release isn't just talking about the concept - the actual production car is CONFIRMED to have 200hp, 6MT, 17" wheels and limited-slip diff. We spoke directly to Honda people about this to clear it up."

That guy runs vtec.net so he's credible.

Technology wise, there is nothing new here. It's just going to be a k20a2 lifted straight from the 04 and earlier RSX-S. It's success depends on it's curb weight and price. Lower is better for both obviously.

Kind of interesting though is that since the engine is the same as the RSX-S, the new civic SI will basically be able to use almost all existing RSX-S engine mods.

Right, I'm not saying the S2000 engine is going into another car. I mean a new engine for the S2000 or at least some kind of updated version. Why would Honda make a Civic with 200HP and then their sports car with only 40hp more and a six speed tranny in both?

Edit: You know what would be awesome? This Civic Si being RWD :Q

<--- dreaming

Rumor mill says the RSX might get axed after 2006. It never made much sense in the first place, diluting the acura line up. What would be nice is if they cut the price 1-2K, and moved it to the honda line up calling it the "integra". 😛

Man, all I can say is wow wow and wow.
I love every bit of that car.
It would be perfect if that car is a hatchback(i.e. tC) and priced around $22K.
By the time it comes out, I'll be rady to ditch my 99 Si.

I'm totally impressed by the car.
It does look alot like a mini Accord coupe but alot sleeker.

How long do you think by the time a production car come out ?? 1 year ??

AIEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! RICE WING!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, someone had to say it. 🙂

Looks pretty good. I'm going to guess that 200 hp and a 6-speed close-ratio manual w/ limited slip differential is probably going to take it out of competiton with the Mazda 3 and Scion tC though, unless Honda is hiring small Taiwanese kids to assemble their cars now for lower costs. 🙂
The Civic Si will not hit the market with 200 hp. Quote it... 😉

Qouted, too bad you weren't taking bets via paypal. 😀

Obviously it would be easy...but it would also have been easy in 2002 when the current generation of Civic Si was given the powerplant that would later be used in the base model RSX.

ayyy... you are teh largest automotive skeptic in teh ATOT world.

Btw did anyone notice...
provides a strong indication of the styling and performance direction for an all-new production Civic Si Coupe scheduled to debut later this year.
So while the concept looks sweet, the production probably wont look as sweet.

the rsx-s is only 200hp bud @ about 2700ish lbs

the old type r was like...2500ish lbs if iirc

the rsx had sh1t like leather, AC, more height, moonroof, six speakers, and other stuff i'd like to have in my car, well minus the extra height, at the cost of .2 of a sec in the quarter

EDIT: my bad, those specs were for the older rsx-s apparently...the newer ones have 210 like u said...and an extra 100 lbs at 2800ish vs 2500ish for the old itr

so extra 300lbs and only 15 extra hp means slower quarter...but again...with options that i would like in a car

i wonder how many people posted up i can hear the "hyuk hyuk" of the white folk lining up when the new mustang was unveiled

i bet not many

so lets spare the rice comments and not focus on the stereotypes given to it or a flamewar will begin

Just a realist based on Honda's past business decisions.

<== Owns two Hondas

Not the current one, it's been selling below MSRP b/c it's so damn ugly 😀
