The previous 1.8T engine from VW needed 91 octane.

Anyone know if there new 2.0T engine needs 91 also?

It doesnt *need* 91.. it will run on 87.. just it will retard timing on boost if there is any knock.

anyone feeling adventurous? 😛

I drive an old turbo audi.

the difference (from the factory dyno) is like 4hp between 91 and 87.

I own one of thoes late 80s audi 200 quattro turbos for fun as well.
Seems to run fine on 87, but I find a mix of 87 and some sort of premium works best for everyday driving.

Cool. I'm working on converting mine to EFI, so i can crank the crap out of the boost.

with 20PSI they'll do something like 280hp at the wheels.. i suppose you could go higher than that yet, not sure how much the engine would like it though.. suppose i'll have to buy 91 if I do that 😉

The new 4 cyl. 2.0l engine will need at least 91 octane fuel. It's Turbocharged. I have a 1.8T and use 93+ octane gas. Switching to R32 very soon; will still put in 93 oct.
