it's not the HP, it's the long flat torque curve that exists for 10,000 rpm. HP is merely an expression of torque. they have high HP to torque ratios merely because they rev so high, which allows them to change gears less.Originally posted by: thomsbrain

HP is what wins races, after all. if you need big torque in a race car, you've got a crappy transmission setup. you could look at your average F1 or le mans engine as the ultimate honda-style engine: super high revving, high HP per liter, and nothing going on below 6000 RPM. 😉

That's not a second seat, that's a second rollbar hoop. ALMS (and LM?) rules. It also provides a convenient place to stick a crewmember to fix things when they break without having to pull the driver out of the car.
