2005FPW Revs to avoid?

Does anyone know which revs of these monitors to stay away from? According to the review on the site, there were some problems with the early models. I guess Dell has assigned Revs to the monitors. A00, A01 are the only two that I have seen so far. If I can find one for a better price, not thru Dell's site, I just want to make sure I get their latest rev for best quality.

Thanx!

There were complaints of backlighting issues with the A00?s. I don?t think you could get an A00 now even if you tried unless it was a refurb. I?ve had my A01 for a few months and love it.

Actually it was the A01's as well, but not all of them. The a02's are much more reliable from what I have heard/seen. I actually got a rev a02 refurb from dell. So you should be good all around. EXCELLENT monitor.

Not that I notice, but I don't play FPSs a lot.

Mine is a A01, and I have light bleed in the corners. Only really notice it during boot up, as it requires a total black screen in order to see.

A02 is the most recent rev, and currently the most desirable.

Cool! Thanx for that info. Love it when I find out the full scoop!

If it aint brand new from Dell, just make sure its an A02.

And I would assume it says A02 on the back as part of the serial number??

Actually, when I ordered mine I first got an A02 with backlight bleeding so bad that I had to return it. The next one they sent me was an A01 and it's absolutely perfect. Not a hint of backlight bleeding. You never know. It's very easy with their return policy to keep giving it back to them until you get a perfect one. Plus, you likely get to hang onto the original one for a couple of days and play with dual monitors 😀

True, but I was looking at maybe picking one up on eBay if the price was less than what it would cost me from Dell. Warranty can then get a little complicated.

Yup, no warranty if you buy it from Ebay

I would recommend against buying it on Ebay. All they do is wait for those sales that we all get and then sell it on ebay for a higher price when the sale expires. You should be able to get one direct from Dell on a sale for cheaper while still having their great return policy and a warranty too.

Yeah, really no way to know, MOST people get one that is fine the first go around considering how many fo these things Dell sells. But you "may" get one that is defunked, but not likely. I purchased one refurbed and it was perfect the first time.
