2005fpw not using whole screen while watching dvds

When I watch dvds on my 2005fpw it has a bar on the top and bottom of the display, both when watching movies through a computer and when using a dvd player/home theater system hooked up to the svideo connecter. What do I need to do to get rid of the bars?

Just because a movie is widescreen doesn't mean its the same aspect ratio as your display. There are basically 2 widescreen ratios: 2.35:1 and 1.85:1.
1.85:1 should generally fill your whole display. 2.35:1 is narrower and will still have black bars on the top and bottom. This is true with any widescreen tv pretty much.
