Just got my shiney new 2005fpw from dell a couple days ago, hooked it up...and its very green, like there is a green filter across everything, changing the color settings on the OSD help a little but I cant get any sembalance of black on my desktop background (which is solid black). Running a DVI connection with my 9800 pro. When the pc boots up even the bios background is green. The monitor works fine with the D-Sub connector hooked up. What do you guys think? is it my monitor? the cable? my video card?

I don't know if this helps, but I can connect my old analog crt to the DVI output via an adapter and the colors are fine.

Sounds like monitor, but Its hard to tell. Possibly bad connection to monitor? I would think that if one of the pins on the DVI plug were not connecting wrong that could cause a color tint. I would check the DVI connection carefully at both ends, and if you can test the dvi cord on another true DVI connection, do so.

Yeah this is very frustrating, I might try and get a diffrent dvi cable. Sadly none of teh other various computers in the house have DVI output. I live in alaska so RMA always becomes an exceptional pain in the ass so I am trying to avoid it if I don't have to.

DVI is digital. Cables do not affect picture quality - the information either gets there or doesn't, it's 100% or 0% image quality.

Try a different cable or even the analog port.

Can you ask a friend and try at his computer?

I bought m first DVI cable from a very expensive brand (I was going to use with my LCD TV also) and it didn't work out. It was meant to be compatible with everything.
I returned it and bought a solid but generic brand one and it worked.

Sometimes the more expensive is not better.....

His cable already "works". Another won't work any better. I said that.

So, your miracle cable changes the DIGITAL data that transmit through it?

Trying another cable would be a good idea if he had NO picture. Get it already. Please.

Yes, just keep repeting it until it becomes true. You might suceed.

How many wires are inside the DVI cable? Yes, it is digital. But if one (wire) signal is wrong, it could affect the color. He is not saying it has interference on the image. He is saying the color is weird.

I had this issue between a Denon DVD Player with DVI output and a Sharp LCD Screen with DVI input. The image was green, just like Zeke's.

Changing the cable (just that) solved the issue. Regardless of what you say, my past experience will not be changed.

Woo I started a fight! Seriously though, The monitor does work fine when connected to the analog input. Like madellga said I am not losing signal quality, the picture is sharp, just very green.

Dell Has an oustanding return policy. If you call them they will send out another and have arrangements made to pick up the broken one.
