It's the end of an era when the Seti@Home developers retire the classic client in favor of BOINC, marking an end to Team AnandTech's second major competition.

Seti@Home lives on and continues to do research through the far more versatile BOINC client.

Yes, that was a rush .... almost all crunchers maximized their output.
The sorry part was that there were quite a few cheating crunchers. Those got their deserts: they were stripped of their points and some teams lost quite a few credits.
Team Anandtech, being what it is, did not loose any at all. Congrats, TeAm mates!

I remember the final rush quite well. Did miss a few points as the server shut down too soon.

I remember being so dissappointed when they canceled classic SETI. Liz introduced me to SETI when we first started dating, and boy was she pissed in how quickly I passed her in the stats. (she didn't realize her P2 was racing my dual Xeon). I was very sad to see it go, and I limitedly crunch SETI on BOINC because of that.

Those were the days indeed!

I also remember AS1 asking me if I wanted some assistance to make my 10 000 points before it was retired.

Thanks to anyone who did help me!

7!

Yea I remember my SETIQ was getting WUs off another team mates Q, unfortunatly his Q lost connection/contact with Berkely early & I had 2days worth of results which never got through!, it looks like I didn't crunch to the end, when I did! :p

Oh yea I forgot about Team TaBoo! , started off by Mgallik (longsince MIA:() after I boosted him to 10k, and with classics 'immenent demise' 1yr latter (!) we had over a dozen members IIRC & we had boosted several dozen people to various milestones :). 10k was our favourite MM.

Lol, so is that how you win races? by having an unfair advantage? ;)
Does Liz know that btw? :D

Many was disappointed (and angry) by the closing of "classic", and some complained of "lack of info". I especially remember one that complained about lack of info on the "classic"-forums then his client "suddenly" popped-up the "closes in 1 month"... and at the same time mentioned he hadn't visited the SETI@home-pages for over 2 years...

My last SETI@home "classic"-wu was returned... Wed Jun 23 02:55:03 2004

In other news, Folding@Home posts a 1st. April-joke, that "they're working on a BOINC-version"...
