i need something called a recirculating air actuator, or something like that. i can't find it anywhere.

basically, behind the dash, there's an actuator that opens and closes a little door to let in fresh air or keep the air recirculating. whenever the fan is set to fresh air, the actuator keeps wanting to open the door past the point where it should stop, so it keeps clicking. the guy who can repair the problem said he needed that part to do it.

what part is it exactly and where can i buy it for cheap?

Could it be the A/C vacuum actuator? Rock auto has it for $43.79

EDIT: Darn it, I've been beat by potted meat.

Get the repair guy in front of a computer and at the Rock Auto site. They have an illustration of it there.

Another option is a junkyard and of course the dealer.

A third option may be to pull the plug on the actuator with the door in the normal position (allowing fresh air in). The car won't cool down as fast on hot days, but I think you'd be fine.

And if there aren't many Pontiac references, you can use a handy Toyota reference. Look up the Matrix.

I hate that Pontiac built a car that could be nicknamed the "Vibrator". How far down they've come from the glory days of John Delorean and the GTO.

i call it the storm trooper car. it's my gf's car. i was hoping to find a horn that honked the intro to the imperial march and replace it when she wasn't looking.

I like our Vibe. Might get another one once we get around to needing a newer vehicle (have a 03 Vibe and a 95 Neon ).

Got that part replaced by a mechanic a few years ago, didn't cost much.
