Didn't the VQ always use a timing chain?

But the Frontier's 3.3 liter V6 didn't...

that's a VG..and are you sure it doesn't?

I know the KA24DE from 1988 uses a timing chain, as does the SR20DE, and the VQ since inception.

ummm, welcome to trucks?

the new vq will probably be finding its way into maxima's, wont it?

Someday the Maxima will have 400hp and will still be FWD.

The thing is most buyers of these things will use them like compact cars. They won't get any benefit from the bigger engine, but they will use more fuel and pollute more.
Posers suck no matter how you look at it though ;)

So many people get trucks or whatever and never use em, it's just funny to me, from the GM recall thread you can see my bed is dirty as hell and I have some kickass towing equipment (Load leveler, weight dist system, class 3 hitch rec)

friend of mine is like this. granted he uses his truck to move his mountain bike or snowboard occasionally. but he had a bed cover so its just like a giant trunk.

he drives a 2002 tacoma v6 with pre runner sr5 or something. mostly just commutes to work in it from what i've seen.

He just got his '03 Frontier in July of '03. Has already put 20,000 miles on it. No word on a long-bed version though:(

That beind said, the new Tacoma looks 5x better IMHO.

Use 'em for what, hauling? So what? It's no different than driving a car that never hauls anything, but you get the advantage of a roomy, high, bench seat and cab, as well as a rugged suspension that can handle pothole filled streets without needing a 4 wheel alignment if you hit one too hard. They're a helluva lot easier to work on, and hold their value well. Not to mention, they CAN haul stuff if the need comes up!

I see lots of people trying to load stuff at Sears dock pickup. For some reason, they just don't want to accept the fact that their econoboxes can't haul anything larger than a shoe box. They try the trunk, then the back seat, then recline the front seat, and when it still doesn't fit, they remove the contents of the box and start over. Hell, even a tiny truck would have been home with the merchandise by the time they got done fooling around.
