WhatÂ?s new for the 2005 Accord?

All trim levels now come standard-equipped with side airbags and side curtain airbags. This is a strong safety buying point, which makes Accord an even more appealing family sedan. There are also a few amenity features, now standard, to interest and excite your customers. A new coin tray lid design makes for easier access and convenience. A fuel cap indicator eliminates any chance of forgetting to recap. To eliminate fumbling at night, the steering wheel mounted audio and cruise controls are illuminated on the LX Sedan.

Nice to see all of the models getting side air bags - they should be standard on ALL vehicles :) Seems liek a smart move by Honda, they should fit their whole lineup with them as standard eqipment :)

Biggest exterior change seems to be in the taillights. The long white/clear lens seems to have been shrunk. Looks better but still not good.

Doubtful.

That sucks. I want an accord LX coupe, but I want to put aftermarket rims on it, but not gonna do it with drum brakes. It just goes to show that Honda cuts corners where you can't see it under the hubcaps :)

Wow, sales must be down. The Accord's refresh isn't due until the '06 model year.

The Japanese (well, at least Toyota and Honda) do three years of the initial design, refresh on the 4th, carryover for 5th year then a new model the next year.

The latest Camry was introduced in '02
The latest Accord was introduced in '03

Yet the Accord is being redone at the same time as the Camry.

Taillights are the same as the ones on the Hybrid. The Inspire front end is ugly - I hate the larger grille portion. Steering wheel audio controls are standard on the models with the 6 disc in dash changer. MP3 is available.

Anti-Lock Braking System
ABS, standard on all Accords, plus 4-wheel disc brakes on EX and V-6 models, offer smooth and efficient braking power, even with heavy and repeated use.
:( Honda sucks the big one. I really don't get it. Are they saving so much money by having drum brakes, and supporting two types of brakes on same model? It really tarnishes the LX in my eyes.

Eh, its not terribly difficult to get rear disc brakes onto an LX, if that's an option for you.

I don't think it's about them saving money, it's about them making you want to go to the next trim level. That said, I have an LX V6 coupe and it has 4 wheel disc brakes.

Your average buyer wouldn't know the difference anyway with a FWD sedan with a front weight bias.

I guess drum brakes are fine for sedan, but coupe is more of a fashion accessory than an appliance. I don't even see why they offer the coupe with hubcaps.
It ruins the whole look, and the whole point of the coupe is the look. The V6 is less efficient and more expensive, and the EX sunroof takes up too much headroom.

The hubcaps aren't THAT bad My car. It gives me a chance to chew the crap out of the tires while I set aside cash for new wheels :)

Well, um, yea when you have 80 more horsepower and almost 60lbs ft of torque more than the equivalent 4, it's obviously not going to get the same MPG or anything.

60 lbft more? I thought it was 40lbft more. Those Honda V6s always came across as gutless down low to me ;)
I think the I4 has adequate power, and V6 is not necessary in that car.
My point is I would get the LX I4 Coupe with hubcaps if it had disk brakes. That way once I get rims, It wouldn't look stupid with those drums in the back.
I thinkit's stupid to sell the coupe with drum brakes. Nothing sporty about drum brakes.

It's amazing how much better it looks with that tiny change.

Err around 50ish I guess. If the V6 is not necessary, what's the point of having a "sporty", slow I4 coupe?

Honda does offer 17" wheels but only on the top of the line V6 Coupe w/ Navi IIRC. They do need to offer them on the "regular" trims as well - everyone on most of the Honda boards loves the I4 EX rims, they just wish they were made in 17"s.

And the back looks NO different - if anything, it looks uglier with the JDM style taillights. See:

http://www.v6performance.net/forums/showthread.php?t=36821

The picture rbl posted only looks different because of the shadow - it looks like a flat back like the TSX in the picture. Take a look at the red-on-red sedan.

You can get an LX V6 coupe if you are ok with auto. The cost is actually pretty close to the EX I4.

From a functional standpoint, there is nothing wrong with the drums. Some guy on accordtuner.com has some heavily modified I4 LX with nitrous and stuff, but stock brakes down to the rear drums. Supposedly he took his car down hill mountain racing initial D style with some other cars and he claims there is no fade. :Q

But yeah, it is nice for bling, I kind of want to get a rear disc conversion for my car (LX I4). Supposedly the cost is like $300 in parts if you junkyard it. I agree in principle disc should be atleast a readily available option.

I want to see pictures of the Coupe... I think I'll be buying a V6-EX 6MT at the end of Sept or so....

Anyone here have the 04 V6-EX 6MT Coupe? Impressions? Comments?
