They made it 19 feet two inches. They figured the maximum width they could get away with and still fit into American parking garages was 80 inches, and they squeezed just inside that mark at 79.7 inches. It is three inches higher and four inches wider than other Tundras. This makes the Tundra Double Cab the biggest thing Toyota makes.

How big is it? It eats Toyopets for breakfast. It is so big Toyota consulted its truck partner Hino in Japan before going to work. Hino makes those big box vans and delivery trucks. Hino made drawings of the upper body, while Toyota engineers designed the underbody.
Still can't wait for the all new '05 model :D

I think they put the wrong specs up for the Tundra...those look like Tacoma numbers/weights. I know that the Tundra Double Cab has to weigh more than 3925 lbs.

The widened the cab 4 inches and made it taller by 3 inches. It's larger inside than the new '04 F-150 ;)

Very good move.. :D that old cab was too short... now the bigger motor and a bigger axel in 05' and they will be a great 1/2 ton option :)

Speaking of which, why can't you get a four full-size door option on the Silverado 1500??? You have to step up to the 2500 to get it. Seems pretty short-sighted on GM's part now that Ford, Dodge, Toyota and even Nissan have full size doors on their half-ton crew cab models:confused:

Yes, it looks like a pretty sweet truck. I owned a 2000 Tundra SR-5 and my biggest complaint was the lack of room in the back seat (well, that and the horrible gas mileage). Other than that it was a great truck.

The first and only 1/2 ton rated for 10,000lbs :)

4L80-E owns ALL 1/2 tranny's :D

That's weird, b/c I was looking at their site and didn't see a 4-door crew 1500 model anywhere:

If Toyota had been willing to sacrifice bed length, they could have just plopped the new Double Cab's crew cab body atop the 128.3-inch wheelbase frame atop which all other Tundras are built, but instead they've engineered a new frame that uses a dang long 140.5-inch wheelbase so that the bed can retain all but 0.4 inches of its length (74.3 inches compared to the Access Cab's 74.7) without resorting to an awkwardly long rear overhang. It's also almost four inches longer than the bed Ford uses on the new F150 SuperCrew. They've also made the bed a significant 1/2-inch deeper than the other Tundras' beds.

The general (and misplaced - more later) criticism that the Tundra is smaller compared to the domestic competition is allayed somewhat with the Double Cab. While the Double Cab is still down 3.0 inches in wheelbase to, for example, the short box/crew cab GMC Sierra, at 230.1 inches, it's 4.2 inches longer overall. So this is not a small truck.

Looks like crap but then so do all the other 4 door trucks.

"The V8 makes 240 hp and 315 lb-ft of torque. By big American truck standards that is only mid- to lower oomph range. Some could say downright wimpy."

Best part ;)
