2004 Scion xA and xB (First drive at Edmunds.com)

I love the Xa, but the centered dash is enough to make me not want to buy it. It blows BIG TIME!

I drive a 110HP 200sx, so I don't don't think I'll see much of a difference in power. The Xa looks beautiful to me 🙂

First Drive: Fugly A and Fuglier B.

As a young person, I am embarrassed that cars that look like this are being marketed to my demographic.

The Scion xB is priced at $13,680 for a manual transmission and $14,480 for an automatic and the xA's MSRP is $12,480 for a manual, and $13, 280 for an automatic. No, that is not a typo - base price for both cars is well under $15,000. "Sure, that's probably for a stripped model with no features" you might be mumbling - and you'd be wrong! The xB and xA 5-speed manual come standard with air-conditioning, anti-lock brakes, six-speaker Pioneer stereo, power windows (with driver side one-touch), locks and mirrors, tilt wheel, rear wiper, first aid kit plus headrests and three point seatbelts in all five seating positions. The list is even longer for both cars, but with these features alone, the Scion xA and xB are already an impressive bargain. The xB adds stability control, traction control, and electronic brake force distribution at no additional cost.
Nice package for the price. Though, I wonder if Toyota (err... Scion) offers a "make the car not look like crap" package.

the first one looks sorta like the corolla wagon... the second looks like a van... both are fugly. the second will be popular as a low rider i'll guarantee.

i've driven one of these, if i wasn't gettin free stuff for it, i woulda been embrassed to be caught in one. its ugly in person, even fixed up, it looks craptastic

I guess I'm a minority and gay :Q Hopefully now I can qualify for more school scholarships 😉

The xB looks like an uglier Honda Element. The xA just looks like a spinoff of the Matrix. I don't really like either, but it's nice to see something a little different.

Anybody that buys one of these new in place of a nice, used car of much higher quality for the same price or less needs to be cock slapped.

I'm sorry, but that's just the way I feel 🙂

Doesn't that seem horribly underpowered? 108 hp or 118 with cold air intake... Yikes.

No.

The first Volkswagen Beetle came with a 25HP(or something like that) engine. 🙂

It was later upgraded to 36HP. Screamin! 😀

Heh, the xB looks a lot like a Honda Element.

At least, the general shape.

And the 36hp Beetle topped out at a blazing speed of 62 mph. 😉

Hey, if 36HP can go 62MPH.. then 108HP should be able to go at least 100! 😛

blah blah blah..

*I* like the xB. I sat in one at the LA Auto Show. It felt solid and had plenty of leg room (front and rear). I think it would make a cool little road trip car. Too bad it doesn't have a little more power (and AWD).

Obviously there's a recognition for the mexican gansta image; this is the byproduct of such recongition.

I can't see anyone in my age bracket flocking to the dealers for the cube van-ish abomination, other than the noted group of ganstas.

The xB looks like the bastard child of Matrix/Vibe and new Civic SiR.

Neither is impressive to me.

NFS4 did you use to post on off-topic.net / honda-acura.net's offtopic?
