2004 Nissan 350Z Roadster @ AutoWeek

Have you ever driven one during the summer? Convertibles are amazingly fun when the weather is nice. It is awesome having nothing over you except the sun and blue sky. A convertible can give a whole new meaning to the term "going for a drive".

Most of the time they're somewhat impractical but that open-air feeling can be worth it. 🙂

I'd rather have the coupe. If I want a convertible, I'll get a REAL convertible like a Boxster 😀

because the Z doesn't have a convertible top....

i do think the boxster looks better in both top up and top down than the Z

~35-40k for the 350Z Roadster? Pretty pricey. For that money you've already stepped into M Roadster's territory and you're entering Boxster's (not the Boxster S though). M Roadster all the way.

For those who've never driven a convertible with some serious ponies under the hood, it is AWESOME. The engine is your stereo and your hair gets seriously messed up! 😀

The Boxster was made first and foremost as a convertible/roadster. So it was shaped that way. To get the convertible on the 350Z, you have to screw with the looks of the coupe.

Very few coupe --> convertible conversions look good to me with the exception of the 911 (which looks like a big Boxster in covert forum).

Yeah, before I got my car I drove my dad's '96 camaro convertable all the time. eh...

Just dosn't thrill me.

sorry man, but the 350 was designed from the beginning to be a convertible

and the boxster has the same oversized rear end as the 350

You're dead inside.

😉 Guess it's not for everyone.

I never said it wasn't designed **structurally** to be a convert...stylistically, it falls on its face in my books as a convert as it is just a chopped 350Z with a fat ugly ass. The wasteline is just too high for a convertible.

I agree, it does look weird (although I don't think it's *that* bad, it's better than an MR2 Spyder 😉).

If you made a Boxster coupe it would look strange too. I think the Boxster doesn't look all that great with the top up (and even worse with the bolt-on hardtop).

the boxster has damn near the same ugly ass... only difference is the belt line is a bit lower in the boxster. face it, the boxster is almost as hideous top up as the Z is.

the mustang vert has the same profile as the coupe 🙂

i agree, it is ugly. but imho, the boxster is, too. the side profiles of the cars are very similar.
