DETROIT, Sept 29 (Reuters) - Mazda Motor Corp. is recalling 42,000 cars in the United States because their airbags may fail to deploy in a crash, U.S. federal safety regulators said.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the vehicles involved in the recall were 2004 model-year Mazda3 cars.

Because of a crack in the airbag housing, water can seep into the sensor that activates the device and cause a short circuit, NHTSA said.

That's true. My Accord was recalled years ago for some plastic bit around the seat-belt (it was screwed on). Seems far more trivial then an air-bag failing to deploy, however😉

Well, technically Volvo too...and they are renowned for their saftey.

Oh well. Have to get the oil changed soon so I'll just have this done along with it.

the s40/v50's are getting mixed reviews in terms of quality. I was thinking of buying the V50, but I'll wait a few years (at least) before they work the bugs out.
