2004 Kawasaki ZX-10R Track Test: First Day

Kawasaki is claiming 172 horsepower at the crank without ram air, and roughly 180 horsepower at the crank with air being fed through the single nostril at the front of the bike.

Did they ever put the new R1 on the dyno? ... they were basically claiming more or less the same thing... which i doubt...

Id still take the R1 over this though... but i'll run out of talent within 5 minutes.

The R1 is a much nicer-looking bike, IMO and the difference in performance between the two is completely moot at street speeds.

I agree. A shame because I'm trying to be a Kawasaki fanboy, but Yamaha keeps building better looking bikes that are just as capable on the track and around town.:frown:

So....how's life under the rock anyway?

It's made by Suzuki. Officially the "fastest production bike ever" since it slipped in just before the 300kph limit was agreed on the japanese manufacturers.

Pics and ride review. They're stupid-fast, but also long and pretty heavy.
