I just got this jeep 3 weeks ago W/78K miles, the idle is not smooth(not terrible rough). It had bosch +4 platinum in it, replaced with the same, no difference, some said use a regular champion copper. I did that and it actually idled worse, like it had a miss so I put the bosch back in. I cleaned the throttle body and idol control. That seem to help some. The jeep seems to run fine and has good power, engine is in nice condition and clean. I used carb spray to check for vacuum leaks, doesn't seem to be any.

What bothered me is the fact that it idled rougher with the champion plugs and had what sounded like a miss, thats not right. It should idle fine with any copper plug,. then again I never owned a jeep.

So, what could it be when idling? Coil rail/pack? Sensor? Vacuum? I did that trick with turing the key on and of 3 times and there was no code, it said NONE. It seems others are having idle issues with this engine, any help would be appreciated, the jeep is beautiful in and out and I want to get it to idle/run the same.

4.0s idle a little funny. if it's just a few RPM (the needle bobbles just a little bit) it's completely normal. When you cleaned the IAC did you remove it and such, or just spray carb cleaner? I wouldn't worry about it.

Yes I removed the IAC from the side of the throttle body and cleaned it up good. What threw me off is the champion copper plugs making the idle sound like it was missing, I thought for sure it would be the same or better than the bosch +4's

Champion is the plug of choice, to be honest. those Plus whatevers, or split blahblahblahs are junk. What does the needle look like? It could be the crankshaft position sensor, but if you aren't seeing any real performance issue it will be hard to diagnose. Any CEL?
