2004 Honda Odessey - Any word on this? (NFS4 required.)

My dad's thinking of picking up a 2003 Odessey. He's argued and haggled the dealer into an absurd amount of free addons and kept the total under CDN$30K at the same time - but now the 04 models are going to roll out in about 3 months or so, and there's apparently a fair bit of included goodies standard, as well as a 3.8L V6 (IIRC) stock.

Anyone have linkage, info, specs?

Thanks.

I don't think that Honda has a 3.8 liter V6. If anything, the Odyssey would get the MDX's uprated 260HP 3.5 liter motor.

I'd wait for the next-gen Odessey instead of getting a current model, b/c the new Sienna pretty much ownz it.

We were also looking at the Odyssey, but then we saw the new 2004 Toyota Sienna and the reviews are amazing for that van. It's visually appealing and it is loaded with features. I'd look at that too. I'd also wait for Honda to unveil its 2004 Odyssey before buying the 2003. Honda is competing directly with the Sienna so who knows what they'll come up with. Also, if you end up not liking the 2004 Odyssey then you will be able to buy the 2003 model for cheaper when the 2004 comes out.

Turbo-response. 🙂

Any spec sheets / spy shots of this thing? I realize it's not high up on most people's lists, but I gotta try.

The major pulling factor of this is twofold - firstly, we've got an excellent deal weighed in right now, involving them eating the lease on a 2001 Accord. Secondly, the old 94 MPV is on its last legs. It just went through an engine overhaul (warranty covered of course) so it needs to be replaced.

No specs, no pics...sorry 🙁

The next-gen Odyssey is still AT LEAST a year away.

That's what I would do.

The new Toyota Sienna is NICE and totally owns the current gen Odyssey.

Wow ... NFS4 and the Grand Nagus himself gracing the thread. You'd be proud of the deal he's Ferengied on this. 😛

Hate to be a bother, but could you break it down into more specific terminology than "owns"? Remember, I'm trying to explain this to my father.

(1) You can get Sienna much cheaper b/c they have CE models starting in the low to mid 20's which are pretty much feature packed already
(2) Sienna has a 40/60 split fold-flat third row bench. Odyssey's doesn't split.
(3) Sienna interior TOTALLY ownz the Odyssey. In the upper level XLE models, it's Lexus quality with wood and GPS NAV. I think that the GPS turns into a rear camera view when you put it in reverse
(4) Sienna has a second row seat that can move forward so that you can have access to your bratty kids 😉
(5) Sienna has a panaromic rear view mirror so you can keep track of the hellians mentioned above
(6) Sienna has dual power side doors (pretty much standard these days), but it also has a power liftgate/tailgate like the Caravan
(7) Sienna offers AWD

i wonder how much space you lose by having fold into the floor 3rd row seats (aka 1976 station wagon technology) vs completely removable seats?

Not much, b/c the Sienna and Odyssey are both larger inside the the Chrysler minivans.

Do you wanna get slapped? 😉

Haha, seriously though the Sienna is REALLY nice. I sat in one of the XLE models and it is UBER nice. Just like a Lexus.

And you know how I gush over the Highlander!! 😀

I used to like the Pilot but the Highlander appears smaller (besides who needs seating for 7 when it requires you have 2 MUNCHKINS or Gary Colemans in the back???) and easier to maneuver.

ummm... i don't see how the sienna or odyssey being larger means that they would somehow lose less space than if they were designed so that the seat could be removed...

A few things to remember: I don't think GPS is offered in Canada on the Sienna nor is the rear-camera view..but I dunno about that. Btw I just came from a Toyota dealer (Brimmel Toyota if your in Scarborough). My dad bought a 99 Camry LE with 92k kms..brought the guy down from $17k CDN to $14.5k CDN. Out the door its around $17k CDN .

Touch but don't buy.

Words of wisdom.

I almost bought today BUT
1) We had an ugly hail/rain storm which lasted for about 15 minutes, must have been a sign.
2) Found a 2003 Camry XLE 4 cylinder on loss leader for $18,997 they only had 1. It was some ugly brown color.
3) Called the dealer in Vancouver, WA they already sold that car, asked him how much is a new LE? He gave me the run around saying I should visit the dealership and wouldn't give me #'s over the phone.

I hope I don't go through this "phase" every summer.
