2004 Honda Accord - cdr's skip a lot

I just bought a 2004 Honda Accord and the cdr's skip a lot. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a solution?

I'll admit I've been using cheap media, but i've never had a problem with it before. I've played my cdr's in several different players and cars and this is the only car its skipped in. Regular pressed cds seem to play fine, its just the cdr's. Is the 2004 Accord's stock cd player just really picky or something? (Keep in mind i'm talking about just the single cd player, not the 6 cd changer).

I also have been trying to figure out what model cd player is in the 2004 Accord LX w/side airbags, and I can't find it anywhere. Anyone know the model by chance...?

Any help would be appreciated.

I've got an '04 Accord and I only keep burned copies of my CDs in the car. They play great. I'm using Fuji (Japan) media, so I'm not skimping. 😛

I put a CDR in my disc changer in my Honda (3.2 TL S) and it got stuck! I had to pay a small chunk of money to the dealer to remove it who told me I was lucky they didn't have to replace the whole unit.

You should've asked me to pluck it out for you.

So you're saying I shouldn't use crap media...? Man, my dad's camry loves crap media and plays it flawlessly.

Have you ever had any problems with low quality cd media in your car though...?

Well, I've never tried crap media in the Accord. I got a great deal last year on Fuji TY media (90 discs for $18) and I've used nothing else since then. Play around with different media, it could be the car jsut doesn't like that brand, not necessarily cheap stuff in general.

I only use Taiyo Yuden's (made in Japan) in our 02 Accord and they work flawlessly.

Yep, thankfully I have a stockpile from all the BB, CC, and CompUSA sales. 50 CD-R's for $5 🙂

I've got an 03 Honda and my CD-R's work perfectly....

However, do any of you notice that your (back) speakers sound a little distorted at higher volumes? (I don't have the same problem with my fronts.) It could be my imagination, or do Honda stock speakers just generally suck?

burn slower that's the answer because 1) your burner probably sucks and/or 2) you're using cheap media

It's just you, or your Accord. My Civic sounds just fine, except for seriously lacking in the bass department. 😛

I'll go with cheap media. I've got a Plextor and a Pioneer A07 DVD burner, neither of them are crappy as far as I know.

Some CDR's aren't very good.

I.E Verbatim CDR's don't work well in my CD Changer.
Fuji's and Imations work perfectly fine.

Try different media. Most likely Fuji would be your best bet.

<-- 04 owner here. The stock cd player is extremely picky in terms of media. It seems to handle my Imation's just fine, but chokes a bit on my TDK's. (Which is weird considering TDK's are supposed to be much better) The changer doesn't seem to choke quite as bad on CD's as the single cd player is.

There really isn't a model number per se - what exactly would you need that for? For reference, the single CD player is made by Panasonic. I believe the 6 disc changer I swapped in for the single (for about 5 months before swapping it back) was also Panasonic, pictured here. It's not an uncommon occurance for it to be picky with CD-R's - many over at v6p.net have the same problem.

Because they're cheap pieces of sh!t. There's more room for distortion on a 6x9 than there is on a 6 1/2. The cones are paper just like the surrounds. Having replaced the fronts and almost replaced the rears, (didn't b/c my replacements didn't fit) I'd guess they're probably 5w rms, at most 15-20w max.
