Thanks They showed a Mazdaspeed version of the Miata (probably not new news) but that was the only showing for the Miata at the show

It's a V8. Look at the number of wires running to the driver's side. There are 5 wires alone on that side, 4 to the plugs and one to the coil. That to me says V8.
