some stuff that's literally around the corner unlike that quantum stuff that's always 10 years down the road duken4ever style

LED lightbulbs: LEDs will outrun obsolescence by moving into the home. Philips is already pushing its Luxeon line of LED lightbulbs, which can last 10 to 50 times as long as incandescent bulbs while consuming 80 percent less energy.

-no more annoying flourescent flutter

MRAM: Magnetoresistive random access memory is (in theory, anyway) more than 1,000 times faster than the fastest current nonvolatile flash memory and nearly 10 times faster than DRAM. "Nonvolatile" means it retains memory when the power is off. Add in its low power consumption, and it's perfect for use in an upcoming crop of computers and cell phones.

- so once again the HD remains the bottleneck, so kinda pointless

surprised the new breed of solar cells didn't make the crop, siemens is working on plastic based solar cells that are 20 times cheaper (a 95% off sale) that todays, which could make solar power more affordable than gas, hydro, wind, coal, geothermal all in one swoop
hey if satellites can be powered by...

how is it pointless? if it's nonvolatile, you can replace existing hard drive technology with it, provided the space is enough

I really like the LED light thing. If they could make a unit that can fit in existing sockets, I think there'd be a nearly instantanious adoption, provided they price them right :p

They all look interesting, but if the Gecko tape is strong enough to to hold you up, how do you pull your hand away from the glass so you can move?

The Gecko changes the holding power by flexing those hairs.
