My car has thrown a CEL three times now at the most inopportune times. The code, P2110, points to a common problem where the TB either sticks or the gears are bad. I did some digging and it sounds like the gears are going bad and probably causing the blade to randomly close causing the engine to go nuts.

Problem is I'm not sure where the best place to get a TB for a 15 year old car. Not really looking to sink a ton of money into the car since it's a spare, but finding a replacement for around $200 would be acceptable.

You can find a used one for around $120 depending on where you are. For an older car, I would try that first.

Throttle Body .. it regulates the amount of air going into the engine, depending on how much the throttle is depressed. The engine computer reads this information and adjusts the amount of fuel accordingly. There is also an electrically operated motor to move the throttle blade or which lets more or less air in, in order to set the idle speed.

Knowing that the throttle body's on this make is problematic, I was hoping to find a new one and not have to play the lottery used. May have to actually venture over to the auto parts store.

If you really want new, be prepared to spend about $600 for it. For that price, I would chance a used one.

Is that a Mazda 6 "I" or "S" ... I think the V6 is the "S" version and that one on Amazon is for the 4 cylinder
I gave you a link above to a trusted store. The one on Ebay is also for the 4 cylinder engine. Since you have the V6your car is the "S" Model (both of them are 4 door models)
This one on Ebay is for the V6 engine $490

Also no matter where you get it, be sure it is the updated version. Mazda had problems with them and made some changes to them. Mazparts listed above has the updated version.

Thanks for the links. I will try a used one first and then look at new. What confused me was the different part numbers depending on version.
