This car is FUGLY!!

On paper it looks like a great deal. You get a powerful Q45 for about 10 grand less. At the sticker price that most other schlubs would fork over for a V6-powered competitor, you, Mr. Dealfinder, can be tooling around town in a 340-horsepower Infiniti M45 with a big, honkin? V8. You?ll be out-draggin? ?em all at the stoplights?and with a sticker price in the low-$40,000 range, you have $10,000 in gas money to spend. The catch is you have to take it in this car body, a semi-slab-sided, Japan-market Cedric/Gloria with design charm reminiscent of a late ?70s Ford LTD.

BUAHAHAHAHA

I think Infiniti is trying to break into the old fart demographic. My dad will probably be drooling over it.

That article has so many errors.

Since when does BMW use a V6 engine in their 530 or Lexus one in their GS300 ? Also, it says the M45 engine has 95 more HP than the GS300. At 340 HP, I think it has at least 115 HP more than the GS. Not sure about the other numbers but I think they are probably wrong as well.

This is definitely not up my alley, though I bet it is nice to drive. The M45 is an odd addition to the Nissan/Infiniti family, and it's hard to see how it will find much of a niche. It's a shame the new Q45 has not sold better, as it really does seem like a nice car - it seems it is very hard (indeed near impossible) for Infiniti to compete against its tried-and-true rivals for market share in the high end.

ES300 is not a looker either, and it's selling fine. I think the demographic that buys these type of cars to begin with are mostly comfort oriented older people who will crosshop this car with Cadillac Deville, Lincoln Continental, Buick Park Avenue, those sort of cars. I know it doesn't fit into Infiniti sporty image well, but it might sell fine given that it's a very competent and comfortable vehicle. Also, it doesn't cost Nissan much at all in terms of R&D cost to modify the Gloria to left drive, so they can offer it cheap. Sure they could have spent the resources to engineer a whole new car from ground up, but then it would cost a lot more to recoup the investment. So they'll just wait for the next gloria redesign.

GAG! You can tell they just modified the body of the Altima some and threw a new grill and new rims on it. I have to say the rims are nice, but that grill is just screaming to be hit with a baseball bat!

I like the M45..it looks nice. Ok maybe not as nice as the model they get in Japan (which really does look aggressive). In any case, this car isn't catered towards our demographics, it is catered towards those in there 50s and 60s. And I'm sure that group will love the car...well I hope they do..for Infiniti's sake!

Infiniti has had MUCH uglier cars in the past... namely the J30 and the old M45, both of which I wash daily since i'm a lot boy @ infiniti. Those cars are the biggest pieces of crap i've ever seen. Seriously the old version of the M45 was much much much worse. While the current M45 certainly isn't striking, it's not as bad as the old one and it's kinda decent. I mean, lots of people think WRX's are ugly without body kits but that doesn't stop em from buying it :) Performance goes a long way

Actually, the design predates the Altima.

On balance I don't think the car is TOO bad, other than the grille/headlight treatment, which is horrific.

I think that Infinity has the right idea with that car. It looks interesting. Its kinda like a "no frills" version of the Q45.

My first reaction to the overall design was 'sturdy'...It just looks sturdy to me, and that's a nice change.

Looks pretty nice to me, although the tail sticks out a bit to much, I think it's quite nice looking. The top looks like a Mercedes, especially those rear view mirrors.
