Hey,

I have a 2003 Ford Focus that got a new-to-me (actually used) transmission and a new clutch about a month ago. Now I'm having intermittent issues where when I start my car the clutch acts like it isn't there. I can push it all the way to the floor and I get no resistance. Even so much as when I start the car, I can have the clutch depressed entirely and still have the car move forward in 1st. When it is like this I can't shift out of gears into neutral, even with the clutch fully depressed. I have to stop the engine and then I can shift out of first into neutral. What confused me the most is that this will slowly go away after 20 minutes of driving or so to the point that it is almost operating normally.

Any ideas?

Leak or air bubble in your clutch line, it is hydraulic, right?

I would try bleeding the whole system first and checking for any loose connections.

Make sure the brake master is full and not leaking. The 2003 clutch shares the the brake fluid so if the brakes are low, the clutch will take in air even if the brakes are not failing yet because the fluid line is in the middle of the cylinder.
