Anyone have a sense as to whether replacing the transmission lines on an F150 is a DIY job?

All three lines on my F150 have cracked and are leaking pretty badly. The shop quoted ~$450 to do the work, but I'm thinking about doing it myself. I'm pretty handy, but I have no experience working on this truck and relatively little experience working on automobiles in general.

Thoughts?

I have no experience with an F150 myself, but have replaced trans lines a couple of times. Are they hard or soft lines? Leaking at a connection point or in the middle?

I think they are are soft lines. 2 are leaking in the middle, whereas one is seeping from a connection point.

If they are rubber lines with clamps, it should be pretty easy. The troubles you will run into with trans lines are generally related to the routing of hard lines...if they're snaking around all kinds of stuff, it can be pretty hard to get them to where they can be yanked out the bottom of the car/truck without lots of bending. 'Quick connect' type fittings can also give you headaches.

Hose? Yank the old off, put the new on. If you replace factory squeeze clamps with generic ones from the parts store, get 'fuel injection clamps,' which are smooth on the inside. Avoid worm clamps- they work okay if you're careful, but most people go overboard and chew up the rubber hose.
