2003 Chevy Silverado - What do you think?

I'm looking to buy a new truck. I went to a dealership and found a 2003 Silverado Regular cab, basic model for the most part with stick shift and approx 18,000 miles. I got them down to 11,500.

Does this sound good?
Does anybody have any thoughts on the Silverados? How do they compare to other similiar trucks?

I'm not a big truck guy, but that sounds like a hell of a deal. The Silverados have great powertrains in them.
 
Sounds like a good deal. I checked and with the GM employee discount (GMS), a new 2004 similar to that would be around $16K plus tax after rebates, so a $5K discount off the employee price for one year's use isn't bad at all. Let the previous owner take the big depreciation hit and you get the good deal.
 
Is this the 6 or the 8? (though I don't think the 8 came in stick) Also, short bed or long bed? I think chevy's are nice trucks.
 
What do you all think about getting an extended warrantee for about a thousand more? it has 36,000/3 yr warrantee (which ever comes first) and i'll eat up nearly 20000 miles of road a year.

My dad just got the Silverado SS (I know, not the same as what you are looking at), and he likes it. The deal you are getting looks very nice.

I think the straight six is being used on the s10? The newer colorado or canyon uses the I5...weird design if you ask me; they shoulda kept the extra cylinder (the I5 is basically a 6 missing a cylinder).
