they have one of these at the same place I bought my blazer from... very sleek looking vehicle... but I don't know, they incorporate too much plastic on things these days... I don't like it that way.

Oh man....if I ever get a job, I'm trading in my '95 Sierra and getting THAT!

But who am I kidding...I can't afford that.

I like the truck, might need to buy one in a year or so when they are selling for half the MSRP.

I cant believe the idiot test driver popped a guard rail with it.

How do you figure they'd sell it for $20k for?

B/C the new Lightning and Ram SRT-10 will r@pe it for the same money. They're both pushing 500HP.

The Lightning isn't. Next-gen, possibly. You know more than anyone I'm a Ford guy, and yes, either or would absolutely rape it for the money - hell even a HD would match the SS in performance for less money, but you can barely get a half-@$$ bottom-rung V8 single cab Chevy for $20k. The SRT10 will cost significantly more though - probably an extra $10k.

I was actually thinking of a slightly used one in a couple of years, that will have taken a huge chunk of its intial depreciation.

The new Lightning would most definitely toast the new SS. Both the SRT-10 and the '04 Lightning will be kissing 5 second 0-60 times. The new Lightning also has some kind of water injection system to boost horsepower by like 40HP at the press of a button:p

A) It's only concept at this point. Cost of the truck is a big issue for them right now - the truck as shown in the concept would hover around the $50k mark, eliminating a large portion of the (current) Lightning owner base. The current Lightning as it is toasts the SS without even trying. If it wasn't for AWD the only thing the SS could keep up with is the Hemi-powered Ram

B) It's not water:

Ford's patented SuperCooler technology cleverly provides a special burst of power for the SVT Lightning concept. Traditional intercoolers dissipate heat from the supercharged air by circulating coolant through a front-mounted, air-cooled radiator. With the SuperCooler system, the vehicle's air conditioning system is used to chill a small storage tank of coolant to about 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

On demand, the SuperCooler system switches the intercooler flow from its normal circulation and dumps the chilled coolant into the engine's intercooler. In turn, the intercooler dissipates up to 20 percent more heat from the charge air - resulting in a denser air charge.

A green light on the instrument panel indicates the system's readiness. SuperCooler is activated automatically when the driver depresses the accelerator to a wide-open-throttle position.

This technology plays directly into the hands of the enthusiast, Coletti says. The SuperCooler provides the edge for the driver, and it is done simply by taking advantage of the hardware that already exists in the vehicle.

As a result of this cool technology, the SVT Lighting concept can give its driver as much as 50 transient horsepower for short bursts of 30-45 seconds and regenerate within 2 minutes under normal driving conditions. While its effect is similar to that of an aftermarket nitrous oxide system, the SuperCooler is completely self-contained, environmentally friendly and regenerative.

Tada! :D 345 HP? The HEMI is slamming those numbers out, without being a special edition :)

The Hemi is pretty cool. It has 20's and wicked performance too and costs about $10 grand less. Still, if money didn't matter I'd want the SS first.
