I have an '03 Acura TL, just under 50K miles. Original brakes. A very noticeable vibration in the steering is noticed when I brake. I know she is overdue for a brake job.
It's been a while since I've been in the market. What should I expect to pay?
And I'm assuming the vibration means the rotors need to be replaced?
Thank you.

You doing the work?

But for a FWD car its pretty easy IMO.
Best thing is to buy your own parts and call around and ask how much to install a set of pads and the rotors.

ROTOR: CENTRIC Part # 12140046 for $28 each
Brake Pads: CENTRIC Part # 10607870 Posi-Quiet Extended Wear With Shims $27 a set

So $83 plus shipping. There is a 5% off coupon at Fatwallet for rockauto.com

Get those parts plus another $100-150 for labor and you should be set.

When's the last time you rebalanced the wheels? Along with the brakes job you might want to balance the wheels.

if the rotors can be 'turned' you might just need pads. rotors should last more than 50K miles.

Thanks for the replies.
First, I won't be doing the work myself. So I'm trying to get a read on what to expect the cost to be.
The tires are only six months old, and were balanced and the front end aligned at that time. So I'm pretty sure the vibration I'm feeling is strictly brake related.
Spoke with one mechanic today who told me the rotors on this car cannot be cut and must be replaced.

is the TL designed like the accord where the hub bearings need to be repacked if you remove the rotors on the front.

or some weird design on a 01 accord... 2 friends told me it was not your normal take caliper off and slide rotor after type of job.

A lot can change in 6 months of driving, wheels balancing is one of the most overlooked aspect of car maintenance.

Good question. Damned if I know. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

Agreed. But the pulsation in the steering is only when I brake. Rides perfectly smooth and straight otherwise.

You might have rotor warping. Resurfacing may work but it depends.
If you do open the brakes up, I'd suggest changing the pads nevertheless.
