My cousin is getting rid of his 4 year old car and thats what the dealer is giving him on a trade. KBB trade in value is 31,400, retail is about 10k more than that..

Should I take advantage of this and buy it? I was going to be looking for a new car next year anyway...

Its in excellent condition... he babys his cars more than he does his kids.

dealer will not buy it from him for KBB trade in value. you can get a better deal. buying such purchases from relatives is also ill-advised.

I bought my current car from him (1997 740il) and had no problems... I dont think this should be an issue, he always takes his car to the stealer since the company pays for it so all the necessary maintenance has been done at the right times...

The dealer is giving him 30k, but with the tax savings he values it at about 31,500... He has also purchased about 8 cars from the same dealer going back to the 80's so they might be giving him top dollar for the trade.
