It seems like just last year we held a similar comparison test. Oh, wait a minute, it was just last year. Our 2001 Entry-Level Luxury Sport Sedan Test had nine cars and the Acura TL Type-S barely edged out the class favorite, the BMW 330i, for the win.

Someone else *did* win last year, if only for price considerations.

Well, I was talking about how they practically gave the BMW X5 3.0 a tie for first place last month at Edmunds.

dude, it won like half the tests!

How can a sport-ute that can't haul as much stuff, carry any cargo, or have as much passenger space as its competitors win a crossover comparison?? Like I said in the other thread, the BMW 5-Series Wagon is a better utlity vehicle than the X5 is.

eh, they liked how it drove? how did the toyota tundra lose all the off-roading portions of MT's 4x4 offroad truck shootout and still win the competition a couple years back? thats far more of a mystery.

SUV's are meant for hauling people and stuff, not dashing around corners. That's what a 5-Series Wagon is for.

when was the last time you saw a "mid size" SUV full of more people stuff than you could stick in my taurus? you couldn't fit as many people into one until the explorer got a 3rd row, and with the 3rd row up you don't have as much cargo room. good use that thing is.

I like the Audi, I don't know why. I know its not the fastest or has best handling, but there is just something, something with Audi that I like. Plus too many ppl have BMW and Acura, I would just be "one of them" if I get either. I like to stand out with a car that less ppl have.

i think if it was actually a list of what people would really buy for say a certain price it would be a better roundup.

i mean someone who can afford a g35 at nearly 10k less than a 330i , thats just an unfair comparison.

it should be 1.8t , g35, the cadilac, and the 325i. that would probably be more fair.
