2001FP with "smudges" all of a sudden :(

I have a Dell 2001FP that I've been using perfectly for about a year now but now all of a sudden, I get two "smudges" in the middle of the screen. It's not dirt or anything on the screen itself but something underneath?

I have just linked two images of the defect in the screen.
Like I said, I've been using it perfectly for a yr now but all of a sudden I see these two "smudges" on the screen. I have an 1800FP thats been working great for two yrs and I don't see anything on that.
It's connected via DVI cable to a 6800GT and I've tried a VGA cable as well just to rule out the cable.

Please let me know what could be wrong and what I should do.

I saw something like that on a brand new "Gem" LCD. Almost looked like it got "pressed" or something. Either way, it wouldn't come off and it was very noticeable on a light background. Sorry to hear it.

I had a 2005 that i bought in nov of 04. Started having some "bleeding" on the sides of the panel last May, (looked like wallpaper after it gets wet and dries). Called Dell customer service and got a new one in July. This one is a newer version and works fine...so far...
