2001fp backlight

hey all, for those who have the 2001fp, do you guys notice any parts that are a little bit brighter? my top right corner is a little brighter - maybe it's the baclkight? it's not that noticable unless you put it on an all black BG. suggestions? i guess i could get them to send me a new one, but if this is common, i won't worry about it.

I think it's common, I have the same thing in two corners. I sent back my first 2001FP due to dead pixels, I didn't want to bother having to send back a second one.

It's not uncommon; on an all black BG, you can notice slight gradiations from the backlight. Don't worry about it too much, unless you like staring at black backgrounds.

i see - i notice it when i watch movies in WS.

i also ordered 2 samsung 710Ns for my office - one of them has the backlight bad - it's on the top and the bottom, and it's huge. i'm going to send that one back.

thanks - i noticed no dead pixels. woo!

it's huge, it takes up at lesat a 1/16th of the screen on the top right corner...

i mean, i could call them, and have them send me another one until they get it right...

i take that back, make that 1/9th of the screen, it's finally dark in here, and i notice even more. maybe it's time for them to keep sending me one until they get it right.

i bought two samsung 710Ns, one of them is horrific w/ the backlight - it's at the top and bottom, and it's VERY NOTICABLE. 🙁

Well, it's probably the backlight. I actually find this more annoying on laptops, where the top is usually farther away then the bottom, making the image look distorted if it has two backlights. Anyway, my inverter board for the backlight ended up burning out, and when replacing it, I learned I could also put in new backlights of my choosing (albiet dangerously). Looked better after the "operation" then it ever did before. 🙂
