Granted this is only according to ePinions.com readers and only 5 people voted but what are they smoking? It's a Hyundai!

To add insult to injury, only 93% of reviewers recommend the 2001 Honda Accord sedan.

I can't even get to Hyundai's website what's the URL? I am about to committ the ultimate sin, price a 2001 Sonata.

If those five weren't smoking crack, this could be a potential Hot Deal! The only difference between the Sonata and Accord is 5K. Who knows? Maybe Hyundai finally got their act together.

Hyundai has come a LONG way----and probably a lot faster than any other auto maker. Kia and Daewoo still have a long way to go.

I thought they were supposed to be really cheap? Granted you get a lot of bang for your buck but what's to stop me from buying a new 2001 Honda Accord LX?

Their package 10 which adds $975 seems to only have a marginally better radio and Power Tilt/Slide Moonroof w/Sunshade. I don't think a power moonroof is worth an extra $975.

So my final price came out to $18,294, ouch!

MSRP $17,799 PACKAGE Standard $0
TRIM 4-Door GLS V6 Sedan FREIGHT $495
TRANSMISSION 4-Speed Automatic REBATE ($0)
ENGINE 2.5-liter 24-valve DOHC V6 TOTAL PRICE $18,294
EXTERIOR COLOR Napoli Blue
INTERIOR COLOR Beige

If it were $15,995 total I'd buy one tomorrow but I still wonder if a $16,500 Honda Accord LX is a better long term investment? Probably. The Hyundai is probably the better "value" but 3 years down the road it will probably be broke down, screw the warranty.

But a Honda Accord V6 is like $20,500

Hyundai.......I know someone who thought hyundai was the same as Honda......and he bought 1 too. So sad and it did break down about the 60k range but they did have a 100k or 10 year warranty. However, I wont buy 1 because chicks dont dig it and its a fact.

Not being a racist or sexist or whatever ...ist
Funny thing is that most Koreans dont even buy Hyundai so they must know something is wrong with them.

First, I have to say I can't post here or do much anywhere, because of my CRAP COX CABLE oooooo I HATE THEM!!!!!! connection... it is taking me years for a page to load.

Anyway, lol... back on topic.

I would not get a 2001 Sonata Ross, Tis true what the other person said Hyundai is THE fastest growing car company in automotive history, and they are breaking records left and right. However, the one car in their line that is not.. is the Sonata.. everyone is just waiting on the 2002 version which we were "supposed" to get in 2001.

Now I return you to the taunts of people who like to bash them...:)

Smile!

Funny thing is that most Koreans dont even buy Hyundai so they must know something is wrong with them.

All the Koreans I know here swear by Honda and Toyota's because they know it's quality stuff. But some die hard Koreans like Hyundai. They have made huge strides since the late 80's and as wyst likes to ramble off facts and statistics which are probably accurate ... but I like thousands of other potential car buyers cannot shake that stigma that Hyundai = broken down wanna be Honda.

But when I'm at the car dealership in a year and they're trying to sell me an overpriced Accord I might, just might consider a Sonata.

heh, I say go for the Hyundai RossMan. when it breaks down every 2K miles, at least you know you got the comfort of a 10 year warranty. So what, you have to take it to the dealer 50 times out of the term of the warranty...lol ;)

And think of the cool stories you could share with us on ATOT!

replace Hyndai with AMD, doesnt it seem so familiar? not trying to imply you are trolling or anything, but overgeneralization is a peril of a smart shopper... but i wouldnt know about hyundais any better than you do, so whatever :)

I love how people who've never owned a Hyundai make bold pronouncements about their quality. Then, when they have no other recourse, they say, "Yeah, well it looks bad!" Geez, all those Asian sedans look the same.

Good cars, great warranty. Check out the Elantra, too. The 2001 model has received some very high praise since its release.

Won't take a free car, I wish I had those luxuries.

I honestly don't see why everyone is bashing the korean makes on this board. I don't own one, but I hgave a friend who does ( a mechanic) and he says it is one the most reliable cars he has ever owned. I would tak the new elantra hatch over an overpriced civic anyday. And I hate the camcord so those are out. My next car will be a Altima, but if I don;t get that I will probably get and elantra. My suggestion to those who hate hyudai is go drive one, you will find out that it is every bit as nice as a carolla/civic.

Sadly, society views your car as a reflection of your success/personality.

personally, i wouldn't be caught dead in one, quality or not.

I agree with BrotherMan. All this Hyundai bashing is just like the bashing the Athlons took a while back. Some poeple still don't buy them because of they are "unreliable" or some other crap.

Bottom line is, Hyundai make wicked cars for their price range and their quality has improved 100 fold.

My parents have an old 89(!!) sonata. When they bought it(180 000km), they thought they'd ahve to throw it away after a year or two, but the damn thing is still running at is now at 300 000, with only two repairs needed so far (muffler and drive shalf I believe).

now its at 310 000 and still running...

I have a 99 tiburon. Only thing needed servicing so far was the CD player which took a few hours to do. Nothing worng with mine so far and if it does i have the 10 yr warranty to fall back on. Yes a honda might be worth more in the long run. But even a honda will break eventually and what happens if its after that 5th yr. your SOL... With the hyundai you can take it in.
