2001 avalon

Found a local one. 167k miles. Great condition. Timing belt changed at 100k. Brakes have been changed as well. Going to drive it after work tonight.

Going to offer $5k more than likely if it's in the shape they say it is. I saw a thread with great reviews on an avalon earlier this year.

Any certain things I need to check?

The Avalon is a solid car. Boring as hell, but a solid car. You're not going to find many "fans" of it for the same reason that you don't find a lot of "fans" for a microwave oven. Appliances that are transparently competent tend not to inspire fanbases.

The Avalon's a reliable and comfortable car. But it's about as exciting as a Dust Buster.

Not enthused over cars whatsoever. I have a tahoe for when I need room/fun. Went and saw the car. It was in great condition for an 01. Only problem I saw were a few small stains(it's mint fro them having a 7yo) and a crack in the windshield. The front bumper won't even require a clay bar like I thought. The engine looks great. Going to throw them a little lower what they're asking but cash tomorrow.

Well post pics. They're underselling it imo.

167,000 miles is a lot of miles. Yes, it's a toyota. I can't believe that that's the best $5,000 gets you these days. The used car market is just insane right now.

Well this thing is in immaculate condition for 167k. They are the second owner. The guy before them was the owner at the big toyota dealership here. SCORE.

Seriously couldn't find anything wrong with it. Checked the oil cap for sludge. I'll post pics if the deal goes through today.

i'm sure i could find lower miles for sure. but in this condition, just don't think there's that many out there.

My parent's last two cars have been Avalons. It should be a good car in terms of reliability. Not very exciting, but big, comfortable and reliable.

I also feel like at $5k you should be able to find something with closer to 100k, but the used market is crazy right now.

These are like cheap L-series Lexus boats** ***fortable cruisers that have a lot of room** Plus extremely reliable** TBH, this is probably the easiest car to re***mend from Toyota**

glad to hear it. going to pick it up at 4pm. got them to come down a little too due to the crack in windshield🙂

my mom has a newer avalon. lots of room, has some ass end in it too. i'm not big on fast cars, sport cars, etc. i like room for people and reliability. here's hoping for the best:beer;

not to order a transfer case for my tahoe due to the dreaded design flaw(pump rub) by GM. eat one GM.

I had a 99 and loved it, I would still be driving it but it got totaled at 200k or so. The 01 body style in nice as well

got the car. despite the high mileage this thing is mint. feels brand new. i don't think i paid too much given the condition. here's to hoping it holds out for 250k.

I tend to care less about automatic equipped sedans but the Avalon has earned my respect over the years.
Roomy cars, reasonably quick with decent gas mileage....lazy handling.
