The other day I was just messing with the bios on my MSI Delta L and I decided to see high high I could get my 2000 XP up tp. Keep in mind the chiped is still locked, nothing done to it at all. At 1.65vand the fsb up to 178, I got 2.53ghz out of the chip ?? This is with air cooling and the temp idle at about 47c. I left the chip at that speed for about 5 hours or and no problems at all. Do I freak chip or are these kinda speeds normal from these chips ?

Is it stable in games/benchmarks? That's a good chip if so. Most of the tbred's do 2.2/2.3 IIRC.

I think you've been mistaken somewhere along the lines.

Your chip is a XP 2000+ with a clockspeed of 1.67GHz. This means it must have a 12.5 multiplier and 133.3MHz FSB.

If you were to up the FSB to 178MHz you would get 2.23GHz, not 2.53GHz. For the latter you would need a FSB of 202MHz, which would be pretty damn freaky for the 2000+. I think you're running at 2.23GHz and have got a decent chip there!

Just out of curiosity how old is it?

LOL, my XP 2000+ wouldn't go much higher than 1.75Ghz, but it was the crappy Palomino core. If you're getting 2.5Ghz with a 2000+ (even a TB core), then you must live in a freezer. :D

chilled your right, I got 2.3ghz out of the 178mhz and 12.5 multiplier but when I I turned the ram up tho 5:6 (4-3-3-3) instead of 1:1(3-2-2-2) , I got 200 fsb which means 2.5ghz. I guess I should have updated my first post. The damn boots up great and the chip is very stable, no problems yet at 2.5ghz ! Idle temp is 48c loads is about 52c-53c.

The chip was a new Retail RMA from AMD when my old 1800XP gave out. The chip is about 2 years old.

I guess I got a freaky chip or something:)
