I have $2000 to spend on a TV to replace my 5 year old 50" Toshiba. Any recommendations? I'd prefer a RP HDTV.

Thanks..

I suggest the Hitatchi 51SWX20B

You can find it on sale for around $2200. It's the highest rated RP-CRT-HDTV monitor out there. IMHO, it's the best in it's price range.

We got a Hitachi also. They all seem to be pretty highly rated. Pic

Yeah, they are very nice.

I used to be such a Sony whore. But lately, Sony has just REALLY dropped the ball on everything except tube TVs. And even then, they don't stand behind their products.

The only bummer is, I want a DVD megachanger (300+DVDs) and the best bang for the buck appears to be the Sony 875P.

Hitachi is the only RPTV that I'd purchase if I was in the market for one. Our friends have a new 55" Mitsubishi that looks like crap. It was professionally installed, too. I can't believe how bad the picture is. I was browsing one of the local audio/video shops a few months back when I saw a Hitachi on display. Amazing ... truly amazing.

i would also highly reccomend a pioneer RPTV. they are excellent and have an excellent streching mode for current 4:3 signals

Well, he wants to get an HDTV and I reckon the old one isn't an HDTV.

If I had my druthers...I'd have about 2-3 HDTVs in the house ;)

Yeah, but DLP is where it's at right now. And DLP RP TVs are considerably less money than plasmas. :)
