$2000 to spend on a laptop -- help decide!

I have about $2000 available to spend on a laptop. Gaming is of secondary concern to build quality. This is why I have given the IBM T42 serious consideration. However, if you were in my position, what would you choose?

if build quality was of primary concern, the ibm t42 would be at the top of a very short list for me.

upgrade to 3700+ and 1 gig, and the price should be around $1500 so you can be able to upgrade your hard drive as well

and you'll get a free downloaded copy of HL2 and CS:S as well

a friend of mine has a T41, loves it. the thing has lived in his backpack for the last year, been kicked across the room, etc. it still works fine.

I love my IBM T42. Just make sure you go 512MB or more on the RAM. You sure don't want WinXP on 128MB.

How are these ibuypower notebooks in terms of quality?
