Well in a real fix here. I have a CD burner and just installed a 16X DVD player and the drive letters are screwed up. The CD burner is master on ide2 and the DVD is slave on ide2 and shows this in the BIOS so the drive letters should be Burner-D DVD-E but the OS does not see them that way. I have a Que book I just bought ($40.00) and it is not even in the book how to change drive letters. So how to change them and did I screw it somehow when I installed Power DVD. I uninstalled all the software for the DVD, rebooted and the drive letters are stilll screwed up;

um, are you just trying to change the cd rom letters...

if so,
-go Control panels
-admin tools
-storage
-disk managment
-select the cdrom drive, right click and "change driver letter / path"

Well that is what I want to do. The information that you posted does not help because "storage" is not in the Administration folder. it seems like I should be able to change it in device manager but no choice is given there either. Any other suggestions?

the left side of your screen after you go into admin tools...is there a disk managment icon there? Are you running sp3? Cause it is there for me.

Also make sure you are logged on as admin. Sometimes people make a small mistake like that.

No it is not there and I am logged in as administrator but I found it. I right clicked on My Computer and selected "Manage" Then selected disk management under storage and there it was.
Dont know why mine is different, it makes no sense but that is Windows I guess. I just got it a couple of weeks ago, I bought 7 install liciences that were left over from a builder that went broke and they auctioned off all his stuff.

Thanks again both of you for responding to my call for help
